The room at Penarth Mairna was lovely and comfortable, think floating luxury hotel room surrounded by boats! The staff was great. We were a bit late to arrive and someone waited for us to let us in! Thank you so much. The marina area is very nice and it was pleasant to walk around and look at all the yachts. We would absolutely stay here again!

The room is upscale modern, breakfast is fancy with Spanish cheeses and fruit and little welsh cakes. but price was reasonable, cheaper for example then a much less upscale room in Bath. location right near castle and pedestrian mall. good place to eat nearby is Lezzet, two people ate well for 30 pounds. Turkish food. The breakfast at Parador 44 was quite good. someone left their Netflix account logged in so I got free Netflix :) watched Michael Jordan documentary series, the rest of Netflix is very low IQ and pointless. but that documentary is good, Jordan is a winner and you can learn from him. watch it and learn.

FAQs about hotels in Cardiff

The Pride of Wales

Capital of Wales, Cardiff is a wonderfully green city steeped in national pride. At its heart is enormous Bute Park, divided by the River Taff and named after the marquis that once lived in Cardiff Castle overlooking it. In fact, this is just one of 5 castles within the surrounding area.

Over the road is Cathays Park, a beautiful square flanked by Edwardian architectural masterpieces including Cardiff City Hall and the excellent National Museum of Wales. Another must-see is St Fagan’s National History Museum, one of Britain’s top attractions.

From Victorian arcades to the fabulous St David’s Center, shopping in Cardiff is fantastic. And there’s no shortage of pubs and restaurants for a short rest or meal. Those by Cardiff Bay have particularly pleasant views.

Also by the bay are the futuristic National Assembly for Wales and the Wales Millennium Center. Another year 2,000 landmark is the Millennium Stadium, a state-of-the-art venue for international rugby and soccer matches, as well as concerts. Next door is Cardiff Arms Park, home to the city’s rugby union team, while Cardiff City FC’s new stadium is in the west.

Cardiff Airport is further west near Barry and Booking.com have an excellent range of hotels, B&Bs and apartments both near there and in the city center.

Cardiff Bay is lovely a great regeneration project, although there is quite a lot more building going on. Cardiff Castle is well worth a visit. Local buses and trains are excellent. St Fagans is well worth the bus trip, we could really have done with having 2 days there to look round, and it's FREE!

I'm possibly slightly biased as I have spent lots of my childhood and teenage years in and around Cardiff and have lots of family locally. However it is a lovely city and there are lots of great places in and around Cardiff to visit, there is lots to do. I have always loved visiting the City centre, The Bay and Barry Island (even before Gavin and Stacey). Ty Nant Inn, Cedar tree Farm both are great pubs. Public transport is good, and driving around is easy as long as you watch the speed limits carefully as most roads have a 20mph limits.

Cardiff Bay's redevelopment is wonderful with the Syned, Theatre and many restaurants etc. It is a short bus ride into the city centre which surprised us with the high quality of the shopping arcades. The castle and Bute Park were so interesting and we returned to the bay on a riverboat which had a very good commentary about the places passing by.

Overall the people in and around Cardiff were the most friendly we have come across in all of our travels across 4 continents. We did some food and city tours which gave us a really good overview of the city centre and harbour area. We walked around the city core and took a 10 minute Uber to get to the harbour.

Stunning building in an amazing location. The Bay is a 15 minute flat paved walk from the city centre or there are regular buses so it's easy to get to the hotel from the train station. The renovation of the building is beautiful and very respectful of the building's history. The room was huge with an enormous bed and large bathroom. Ideal for visiting the Bay and the Millenium Centre. Staff were friendly, chatty and helpful and really welcoming.

Part of an attractive block of apartments and rooms in Penarth which is a nice coastal area of Cardiff. Good location right on the sea front with views across the Bristol Channel to Somerset. Spotlessly clean and nicely furnished. Comfortable bed and decent sized bathroom. It’s on the Welsh Coast Path so it’s possible to walk to Cardiff Bay. Plenty of buses to the city centre. Penarth is quite hilly!

The hotel was really well situated; close to transport links, the city centre, Arena and Cardiff Bay. The hotel room was nice with almost all that I needed for my stay. Staff were friendly and very helpful, particularly the restaurant team, who went out of their way to help with food, taking my allergy into consideration.

It was clean and in walking distance to both Cardiff city centre & and Cardiff Bay. Breakfast pastries and yoghurt were lovely! Nice touch to have free tea and coffee in the reception area all day. We paid for the car parking in advance, and it was great that it was attached to the hotel - very convenient.
