Lovely to arrive by motor launch from Keswick.

Lovely to arrive by motor launch from Keswick. Said to be a Sunday Afternoon stroll you might find it a bit tough for Grandparents. Fantastic views on a clear day (that's a day when it isn't rain, snow or Cloud Down) so be patient and read the weather forecast.

Amazing climb to the top of Catbells with magnificent views.

Amazing climb to the top of Catbells with magnificent views. The mountain is accessible from various paths to the top some easier than others but well worth the effort. You can carry on to Maiden Moor and Dale Head with views to Buttermere. Again you don't need your car as you can cross the lake by launch to the start of the walk

For a longer more challenging hike. Take a bus to Honister Slate Mine. From there you can climb to the summit of High Spy and follow a ridge line all the way to Cat Bells and down into Keswick. The ridge line offers 360 degree views.

I have climbed this several times & enjoyed each visit. This walk is more strenuous than the guide books suggest. don't believe the signpost at the bottom which says 1 mile & 1 hour to the top!

Parking is difficult, we ended up parking by the side of the road (on a grass verge) have read that some people get tickets but we were lucky. I’d recommend the launch boat from Keswick or a bus from Keswick. Lovely walk, not too difficult although there are a couple of steep sections, small scrambling sections too but they were our favourite bit! (Takes about 3 hours to climb with a couple of stops to take in the views/ eat lunch)

Try the route which takes you around the leeward side of the fell - walk past the old slate mine and up over the summit and down the front of fell track back to the start point

The location was perfect - just a very short walk into the town centre but with a beautiful view across the hills and Cat Bells. The room was exceptionally clean and the breakfast was lovely - some different options and all very tasty. Staff were really helpful with advice locally and very friendly.

When I arrived I was told I had been upgraded, which was a nice surprise. The room was nice, the hotel was very comfortable and clean. The view from the hotel is lovely, overlooking cat bells. It's very well located for Keswick, just a 5-10 minute walk to Derwentwater. Breakfast was nice.
