Hotel in Old Town, Edinburgh
Overlooking Carlton Hill, Princes Street Gardens and Waverley Station, the 4-star Scotsman Hotel was originally built in 1905. This majestic, listed building was once The Scotsman newspaper. Amazing location, fabulous rooms, great staff. Everything you want in a posh hotel.
This was my second time visiting Edinburgh Castle. The first time I did an audio tour and this time signed up for a guided tour. Both work, but the tour lead by a guide was really great, though more expensive.
During our visit, there was an event happening close to the castle. The infrastructure took them more that two weeks to disassemble so the main route to the castle was blocked during our entire visit and it wasn't possible to see the main entrance. Moreover, many locals told us the trip inside they castle is a bit overhyped.
Fabulous history and views. make a reservation and go early. the Hop on Hop off bus is perfect for getting around Edinburgh easily. Make reservations for dinner as all pubs and restaurants are booked up early.
The castle is amazing however the walk up to it is very steep and even when you are in the castle there are lots of steps so it is not really a good place to visit for those who are not fit or are disabled. As it is so high up it can be very windy and getting around it in the rain is no fun. We did enjoy our visit even though we were limited as to which parts of the castle had esay access. The views are amazing from the castle.
Health not great so got a taxi which was as cheap as chips, to drive to the Castle. Fabulous Castle & Fantastic museum within Castle and staff so enthusiastic to give us more detail on exhibits. The Bagpiper outside was brilliant and although looked down to try to see what I was doing, didn't relise I'd placed a tiny travelling gnome by his shoe - husband not impressed! I got the photo though!
An absolute must see! One of the most spectacular castles, but go early to avoid huge crowds. When you walk in go straight to the furthest point and make your way back to get better less crowded pictures.
Everything went super smooth. From when I checked in until I checked out, my experience here has been nothing but perfect! When leaving my room for hours, I always came back to it being clean and getting some little snacks, my little tray with things to add into my drinks being filled back up etc. I am very happy with how everything went and I'd gladly come back. The hotel is at least a 20 minute walk from the Edinburgh Castle! Not far from that als shopping area's and other places to see from short walking distance
Old Town, Edinburgh
This apartment is in a great location in the Grassmarket area, pubs and restaurants are 1 minute away as is a convenience store for groceries. We loved the location and also having a kitchen to make our own breakfast and a lounge to sit on. It is very close to the Royal Mile and Edinburgh castle. The apartment size is perfect for 2 people. We arrived mid morning and were able to leave our luggage in the apartment while the cleaner finished which was great.
Edinburgh
The hotel was a great, very clean in a quiet corner but just a two minute walk to cute cafes, good restaurants and local traditional pubs. Just three blocks from Lewis Dept store and a large shopping district. A little far from main attractions like the Edinburgh Castle but just a 10 minute walk from Holyrood House and the National Portrait Gallery
Edinburgh
Very convenient location. Next to the train station and tram stop. Edinburgh Castle and the Princess Garden can be reached on foot and you can walk further to the Royal Mile. The apartment itself is very clean and cosy, especially the kitchen, with all the amenities of high quality.
Location was brilliant, it was only a 10 minute walk to Princes Street and very close to Victoria street/royal mile/ Edinburgh Castle etc. Hotel and room were spotless, bed was comfy and they were nice and spacious. Staff were so friendly and helpful!! Highly recommend!
Edinburgh
Located close to Waverly Station and all the important sites such as Princes Street, the Royal Mile and Edinburgh Castle. Lots of shops and restaurants closeby. Staff very friendly and helpful. Modern apartment with all the necessary self catering features.
The hotel's clear asset is it's location. Central and walking distance to Edinburgh Castle and other sites. Well connected for public transport. Helpful front desk. It does the job, only because of it's location - and it is clean.
Edinburgh
It was the perfect location, my partner and I had previously booked a hotel around Murrayfield but having stayed in the city centre has made travelling much easier. It also helps that the hotel is a few minutes away from Edinburgh Castle.
The location is perfect, really close to Edinburgh Castle and easy access to the city centre .. The apartment was good, nothing espetacular, but warm and very equipped.
Edinburgh

Edinburgh castle was a fantastic, day out for the whole family, grandparents, parents and children. Loads to see, very informative staff and lots to see and discuss. View fantastic. Tip, book ahead on line to save long queue (we actually did it while stood in queue)
Mercat Vault Tour, Edinburgh Castle but not the Royal Mile (very touristy!)
Edinburgh Castle is restored almost completely, only St Margaret's chapel conserves some of the original construction.
