This is a popular place for visitors and locals. Have a short trip on the unique wheel. There is a gift shop with local crafts, a cafe, an icecream booth and an excellent play area for children. Plenty of seating to watch the world go by, see the barges going along the canal whilst having an ice cream! Or cycle along the canal to the helix and Kelpies. A great day out.
So disappointed that when we visited they had technical difficulties with the wheel and it wasn't working. Couldn't be bothered making a return trip later in the day in hope it was working. Amazing piece of engineering and definitely worth a visit. Hope to include it in a future canal boat trip.
We wanted to see engineering at its best so we booked our tickets in advance on line. There is a good gift shop on site and also good food to be had You dont have to go on the wheel - you can just visit the site - there are plenty of things to see and do for any age group
The boat ride is so-so (don't really see or feel much) only made interesting by the funny guide. You can watch the wheel in action for free from the dock-side, and get a much better idea of what it does.
Perfectly located for visiting sites in and around Stirling. Ideal place for families and friends. Easily accessible but sometimes the traffic might wake you up early. Special appreciation to our host, James. Always available in case of any queries. Lots of places nearby to keep you entertained. Not far from Stirling town, Wallace monument, Stirling Castle, Loch Lomond, Helix park, Falkirk wheel.
The place is spotless, beds were comfy. Shower was good, although I showered around 6:30 am Plenty of hot water. My husband at about 17:00 said it went hot & cold. Elaine ( owner) was very welcoming. The room was really quiet even thought there were other guests staying. Lovely garden to sit out in. Close for visiting, Kelpies & Falkirk Wheel.
Very spacious & spotlessly clean accommodation. Good facilities, good location for Kelpies, Falkirk Wheel, motorway, Bannockburn, shops and countryside, yet in a very quiet position with no passing traffic. Hosts were very friendly & helpful. There is an outdoor 3 pin socket, which they allowed me to use for charging my electric car.
We liked the location of the cottage, It was close to the town centre. My daughters found a lovely takeaway Chinese half a mile along the road and was very reasonably priced. We enjoyed our last day going to the Kelpies and the Falkirk wheel is well worth a visit.
