The Hoppa bus system to get to hotels is the most absurdly complicated, inhospitable, and undependable system I've ever seen at any airport in the world. Besides that, nobody seems to know much to help to navigate it, including the hotels and the drivers of the buses. I'd recommend taking a cab if you have to get to one of the hotels nearby.
If you have some time, I would recommend taking the HeathrowExpress train to do some sightseeing in London. It goes directly to Paddington station which is very nicely located and clean. Once in city centre we took the red bus and was able to take great pictures!
