This is great we found less crowds in the early evening (which makes for good photos as well). Also it is worth noting it doesn't actually stop for getting on and off, (it doesn't go fast), but handy to know if you are old or have little kids.
Pay extra to avoid the queue. We had bought tix, but didn’t pay to avoid the queue, thinking it wasn’t necessary bc of timed tix. However, just-let-out school kids overwhelmed the line & made it impossibly long so we couldn’t get in before closing.
When you want a good view over London this is the place to go. You can't see the whole city, but a large part of it. Even when you are afraid of heights this is an attraction for you. And there is airconditioning in it, which was nice on the very hot day we visited it.
Pay the bit extra to upgrade your ticket to the VIP pass (I think it cost us an extra £20 on our family of four ticket) & download the QR code to your smartphone we visited on a sunny Saturday afternoon & instead of having to queue to collect tickets then join the massive queue for the eye which was approximately 45 mins when we were there we walked up joined a separate queue had our code scanned & were on the attraction within 15 minutes it was most definitely worth the bit extra we paid.
We went on a boat cruise of the Thames on NYE and we watched the fireworks on the Eye. The cruise was OK not great and very cramped with terrible food. However the vibe was good and its the best spot for the countdown
We decided last minute not to pay extra for skip the lane and we got in within 5 minutes. It didn't take long at all!! Well if you don't mind a small wait time. Check how busy it is before you pay extra is my tip! May not be busy at all.
Our stay at Hotel Indigo was excellent. The room was clean and comfortable. Waking up to a view of the London Eye out the window was fantastic! The man at reception was lovely and even lent us an umbrella to use for the evening. Perfect location for a theatre night! Short walk to all major theatres in Soho, Covent Garden, etc. Only deducted one point for the elevators and reception - felt a little dated. But the rest of the hotel had a lovely Art Deco vibe! Loved it!
The location is very good, close to the bus stop and within walking distance to the tube. Not really in the main road, which is good, less road noise. Close to the main attractions, such as London Eye and Big Ben. Good choices for breakfast. Room facilities are OK : ironing board and coffee machine, besides hair dryer and 2 bottles of still water and 2 bottles of sparkling water The staff, especially Diana, really helpful.
The room was really clean and modern and had everything we needed. The bathroom was also clean and provided really nice toiletries! The tea and coffee station just down the corridor was also a nice touch. We couldn't have asked for more. The location is fab, literally a 5 minute walk to Waterloo Station and the London Eye and the street itself is lovely with Market stalls on and nice bars and restaurants.
The location of the apartment was brilliant and it was bigger than I'd imagined. We had a lovely stay, found the location so much better than having not been to Fitzrovia before but it's a super little area with some lovely restaurants. The view was amazing too, London Eye, St Pauls and lovely rooftops.
The breakfast was wonderful. A lot of choice and very comfortable dining room. The location was perfect as we were going to see Back to the Future the Musical at the Adelphi Theatre. It also surprised us how close it was to Trafalgar Square and the London Eye which was a bonus.
The stay was really amazing in the suite. The views of the hyde park are just breathtaking. I was surprised to see shard and london eye as well. The room was super spacious and the staff made a special effort to decorate it for my husband's birthday. Loved the hospitality.
room only location great for cricket and visitor attractions. Walking distance of London Eye Westminster Buckingham Palace easy route to Hampton Court Kew Gardens green spaces Riverside walks great view from top floori
Hotel within walking distance from London Eye but quieter area.Breakfast area over looked river and Houses of Parliament. Main reception looks good on arrival.
Location was good for easy access to London eye and only a short walk to Trafalgar Square.
I bought tickets in advance because in 2014 they started charging to see the London Eye fireworks. I got there around 7PM with my friends and there were so many people getting in! Took me a while to get past the place they check your tickets but after you pass that you get plenty of time and space to settle. The fireworks were beautiful. To anyone planning to spend the NYE in London: bring food, water and get a good spot as soon as you can. You're probably only going to be able to leave the area around 1AM anyway. The subways stay open until late but they also get super crowded with people heading back home.
I would recommend the combination of attractions, and to book in advance. The London Eye was an amazing experience, the London Dungeons & Madame Tussaud's. The SeaLife Aquarium was good & we were able to casually walk around in there.
The main attractions can be seen and information gained from different types of tours from the London Eye and City Bus Tours to digital audio yours within different individual attractions visited.
