The staff were really good - providing in-depth knowledge and information from the Tudor times. We were not too keen on visiting (we thought it would be aimed at young children), but we were so pleased we did visit. Watching the staff prepare their dinner, as they did in the olden days (no microwave here!), and then invited to join them and ask questions during their meal - which was hilarious and very entertaining - It was the highlight of our stay.
Mary Ardens house is on different levels and there are stairs, however if you are not comfortable managing stairs mention this to the guides and they will let you meet your companions at the last room on the downstairs level, there are even some chairs in there where you can rest, the gardens are on a slope too.
Dressed in period correct clothing, the docents can answer your every question about life in Shakespeare's time as they go about their Tudor chores. These people love history and make it come alive! There are a lot of activities for kids too! It was my favorite place for our entire trip!
If you don't drive or fancy leaving the car just jump on the train to Wilmcote, it takes less than 10 minutes and only a couple of pounds for a return ticket. The station and 5 minute walk to the farm is in really stunning surroundings!
Go for half a day or longer esp with kids. Lots to see and do. Watch ladies baking carpenter making things and visit all the animals on the property - the two farm houses are well presented and authentic for the times
