Once one of the British Royal Family's more private residences, it is a fascinating place to visit. The free tours of the house are well worth taking; the guides are friendly and so well-informed. The gardens are great and you can go right down to the sea and see Queen Victoria's bathing machine.
After watching the ITV documentary on VICTORIA it had to be visited. The lady really knew how to live in luxury for that time. Very interesting house with all its antiquities with special mention of the guides who really knew their stuff & could not be caught out on not knowing all the history of the place & its many royal connections.
