A grand stately home in the care of the National Trust. This is a must visit destination where you will step back in time and marvel at the splendour of the interior decor and enjoy serene walks in its extensive parkland.
No heating. No internet. Dark rooms and there is no complaint register. Lock is kaput so each time the receptionist has to accompany you to open your room. NOT WORTH THE MONEY NOR EFFORT. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. the staff keep nodding to whatever you say and the manager caters to only foreigners (read white) and never bothers to address yAour complaints. I booked for one night on 29 of January , as the next day was our anniversary. why can't they say that room lock does not function, there is no heating no wifi if this is not cheating , what is?
Please be careful when booking this establishment. The room you get will be nothing like you expect from the website and you will not be able to look at it until after you have paid. I know this as I booked a room for my partner and my daughter. This was their experience. The room was in poor condition, mouldy and dirty and the door was insecure. It was like a portacabin. Neither of them felt safe there and so they left before they had slept there and moved elsewhere. I cancelled the booking, which was for two nights, and the management have refused to refund anything. Booking.com also tried to sort this out for me and failed to get anything back from the hotel. BE VERY WARY!!
I've stayed in dozens of hotels and while this hotel is conveniently located for getting into London and has beautiful rooms, reception, a decent gym and dining room, it has two super annoying things that would put me off staying here again. 1. Pay-for Parking. I know this is a business but parking should be free for guests. 2. Very poor room WiFi. When I say very poor, I do mean nearly non-existent. You can connect but the download speed is abysmal and for me that's a real deal breaker because I wanted to get work done while I was here but to do so I have to go into the common area. As I have my son with me, I would have liked to be able to work in the room when he was asleep as I work until 3:00 am sometimes. Also the room was very hot and took a bit of fiddling with the temperature gauge to get it to a liveable temperature.. Breakfast was OK, not spectacular for a four star. But then "English Breakfasts" are usually very boring compared to the equivalent 4 star in Spain, Thailand or Portugal. This was the case here too. There were the standard things to choose from anyway.
