An excellent whole day out, with a very informative audio guide. Atmospheric, lots to see and great fun ! The on-board cafe was very good, and reasonably priced. We went from Edinburgh to Leith by bus, then walked back on the path alongside the lovely Water of Leith.
SUPERB. See the double bed Charles ordered for his honeymoon with Diana, pour a pint in the officer's mess, see the gifts given to the Queen and Duke in the state room, see family photos on desks and walls, keep it real in the laundry, visit the Yotties' quarters, and enjoy a drink or lunch in the on deck tea room. Keep your ticket and you can get free entry for a year too.
The attendant said to work from the bottom to the top which was a big mistake Overcrowding in walkways Entire families with audio sets blocking way continuously Should strongly suggest they move to one side in such a confined space
Buy your tickets ahead on line, we did, & were able to skip the long line to get in. Also the entire time was amazing! We also had tea & lunch in the tea room, our table was looking out to sea! This was on my Bucket List and it did not disappoint at all! I would do it all over again! You are not rushed at all & all the employees are very knowledgeable & eager to answer all questions.
The tour was more that worth the price! So much more information about the royals of the UK. As an American, it was very informative. A beautiful yacht. I do think it was wise, in many ways, to decommission the yacht. Such an expense, that costs the citizens of the UK to have it at the disposal of the royals.
My husband especially enjoyed visiting the Yacht as he was in High School when Queen Elizabeth II was cornered and remembers the launching of the Britannia. The ship was beautiful and the idea of finding the corgis was great as it made my son look harder at the rooms and take more time to find each dog. The shopping mall parking was poorly laid out, I don't remember any signage stating that the ship was accessed thru the Mall. The Mall looked like it needed a face lift and there were many empty shops and ones that weren't open on a Wed. by 11:00am, In high season. Had a nice gentleman not walked with us to show us where the Britannia entrance was we would have spent much time finding it. We did however, appreciate the free parking. I am always amazed that places like this allow trash to be floating about the boat. How long would it take someone to walk around the boat 1 time per day with a net to catch the debris in the water. I know they can't do anything about the smell in the water as the Bay obviously doesn't flush out well. I bet they clean it when the Queen comes to visit.
We visited the Royal Yacht Britannia at Leith which s 10 minutes drive from the city centre it is a fantastic place to visit and can recommend taking lunch on board
