The staff had the right balance of providing supreme service, where nothing was too much trouble and were mostly preemptive, while still being personable and warm. You can find lovely hotel rooms anywhere, but finding the right staff is obviously the Savoy’s forte.

South Bank Centre

A cultural hub squeezed into London’s vibrant centre, this complex of theatres and exhibition spaces hosts festivals celebrating art, cinema, literature – and just about anything in between. Summertime sees the Thameside venue spill outside, where visitors enjoy a drink with the city unfolding across the river. Kids squeal and splash around spritely sprinklers, while the waft of world cuisine weaves its way from a street-food village.
