Most people will only visit the Stansted Airport hotels for a stop over before or after a flight. Stansted Mountfitchet is a village several kilometres from the airport and is therefore not really a tourist attraction unless you were visiting the county of Essex. Nearby Thaxted is more of a tourist attraction. This is written as an Essex resident of 40 years.

we stayed at the Ramada night before the flight all was okay no shuttle so booked a taxi. We also booked the lounge at the airport quite crowded but okay had breakfast. the long queues for security seemed to go on for ever hundreds waiting recommend you take a small plastic bag with seal or zip for your toiletries. I have travelled with my own plastic bags, that have passed through airports around the world without a problem an always stick to the small allowance but not at Stansted they tipped my things out and handed us a little back you might put a small sandwich in, and I was not the only one coming back was no better queues again to almost and 1hour and a half to get to passport control through the bio system my luck the queue i was in the machine kept throwing everyone out so we had to be taken to another machine. i would also make people aware of the so-called express bus service we needed to go to Heathrow from Stanstead no chance only transfer coach 4am in the morning. We travelled to London 7pm and arrived at 10-10pm stopping at several stops or RED Lights then a train arriving at our destination at midnight. we had inquired about train transfer but had been advised that the bus was better Beware, Luton, Gatwick, or Heathrow nextime .Pamela - 4.0Scored 4.0

Advertise 24hr room service, couldn't get hold of them, we must have rung at least 10 times and no-one answered so had to go to reception to order room service, going against the whole point of room service!! Advertise that they have a spa, but really this is just a swimming pool and sauna as no treatments are available.
