really great, but its a long climb if your walking to the castle, theres a good carpark in the Castle grounds tho. Visit the Jail on your walk up the hill, a well rehearsed guided tour, fun and informative.loved my three days in Stirling a nice friendly town.
Allow plenty of time. Arrive early if you want to get into the car park near the castle. I didn't and the walk all the way up to the Castle from town is a challenge but worth the effort just for the views. The audio tour is definitely worth taking if you are at all interested in the history.
It is a beautiful ancient castle, well worth a visit! (Entrance ticket includes a free guided tour inside the castle, then one can roam around and look for more details, such as the Queen's chambers, and the kitchen.
The historic family pass is so worth purchasing. This castle pars with Edinburgh. Costumes for public is a wonderful extra touch. The story tellers dressed in costume brilliant. There is so many interesting historic parts and invitations with historic pass .Discounts in castle shops too from kids toys to delicious food even malt whisky. Loved every trip fond memories exploring Scotland's beautiful castles. Historic pass lasts 1 year pop in as many castles with family. Enjoy
Get there early and do the guided tour, highly recommended, best time of day to see the castle and it's surroundings without the crowds. Buy your entrance tickets online, saves having to queue for ages at the ticket booth, you just go straight to the main gate. Wear flat comfy shoes, cobbles are not designed for modern boots!
Visited Castle in the summer. Had a great guide which was included in the entry price, the history described was excellent. The Argyll and Southern highlanders museum was excellent. The castle is definitely worth a visit if you are in Stirling. Allow a few hours if you like reading everything in the museum.

Good Place to stay to visit Stirling Castle and the Wallace Monument without going into Stirling itself. Easy access via the A91.
Stirling castle is absolutely astounding in their attention to detail in the restoration work.
Stirling Castle was very big and had very elaborate exhibitions for visitors. A small renovation on the exterior grounds going on, but did not disrupt my visit at all. The Stirling Heads were fabulous, whole place kept me entertained for over 4 hours, very much worth the price!
