I stayed in the Thomas James Hotel. It looked wonderful on booking.com. I arrived on my own as my beloved uncle's died suddenly. I had to check in at the bar with a lady who didn't speak English. Not too bad but was walked up filthy carpet stairs that smelled terrible to my room. On first glance the room was big but absolutely filthy. Stains on the carpet that I took photos of. No heat and it was freezing outside. I tried to call reception and the phone did not work. No lights beyond the main light worked. All other lamps hung out by wires from sockets. The shower looked fine but the hinge on the door was broken which meant when you pulled the door over the floor flooded. I was so upset that at 11pm I had to go downstairs to the bar on my own. The lady who didn't speak English said no manager here. An old man offered to come to my room and help me turn on the heat from the radiator. I was terrified. I told the lady behind the bar I wanted to immediately cancel my next night. It was the most horrific hotel ever. Not even a poor hostel standard
