I had a maximum priced ticket sitting in the second row at the front of the stage and could not see past the person in front of me (the first few rows at the front are all on the same level) At the interval I asked if I could move to an empty seat at the side they refused, I ended up leaving and missing the second half. The person I spoke to was polite but very condescending. So, choose your seat wisely and don’t complain as ‘they have been doing this a long time and obviously know it all!’ Having said all of that the performances I saw were excellent! Shame I missed most of the last one.
although we initially had a small problem, the staff were amazing in correcting this. particularly Lauren.staff could not do enough to help us and make amends for previous mistake. The show (Romeo & Juliet) was amazing living up to expectations. cast were fantastic particularly Juliet only on first season with RSC. such an enjoyable evening hats off
Great theatre. The Rooftop Bar is good for a pre-dinner meal; good food, not overpriced and, if you tell them, they know you need to be served in good time for the performance. You can reserve your drinks for the intermission at any of the bars and they will ensure that the drinks are in the bar appropriate to your seat.
Loved seeing a play there! Get a cheap standing ticket if you think you won't want to see the whole play. We did- and we're so intrigued we stayed for the whole play and when people left their seats we were able to sit at intermission.
This theatre is a reconstruction of an early theatre with an apron stage and a horseshoe of balconies rather like The Globe Theatre in London- but indoors. The best seats are probably the raked seats surrounding the stalls directly in front of the stage. Very pleasant to visit. My only negative would be that the male Toilets were quite small and smelly.
Good tip is to go for seats on the front row of the gallery at the sides - maybe 6 or so from the end. You're really close to the actors - it makes hearing easier if you're a bit deaf like me - and the the view is in my opinion the best in the house.
Unbeatable location in the center of town just steps from the Shakespeare houses and the Swan Theatre. A good example of how a Tudor-era building can be updated for modern use. Room was small but comfortable, clean, and quiet. The car park behind the hotel was easily accessible. Breakfast buffet was acceptable if not stellar.
