I have visited Weymouth numerous times and love walking around the harbour. It is interesting to see the bridge opening to let boats in and out. On this last trip a dolphin followed our boat up into the harbour which was an unexpected bonus. The atmosphere around the harbour is so pleasant.
A lot more could be made of it, I walked down to where the ferries used to depart from for the Channel Islands. I followed the old rail line still set in the road, a pity something cant be done with this to the advantage of the harbourside.
Love it!...have to stop and watch what's happening ...the boats ..the vibes..the lovely restaurants..pubs...coffee shops ..the quirky buildings and colours ..the sounds .. I would say, this is the heart of Weymouth ...
have a good walk around... bennets cippy a must and have a pea ball andf battered mars bar .. drinks in pubs expensive but the raspberry cider a must also the crayfish tales are great
Beautiful little harbour, always enjoy a stroll round and pop into a nice pub for a drink, nice to sit outside and watch world go by. The harbour comes to life at night with all the twinkling lights really pretty.
The harbour is great for crabbing, just beyond the lifeboat station. Follow the harbour round to the stone pier with great views across the bay. Some good restaurants and fish and chip shops. Our favourite is the Malborough by the lifting bridge.
