A city-defining experience. These walls were erected in the 13th century to fortify the city against invasion. Today, as then, they reveal stunning views of the Adriatic sea and the Old Port. Budget extra time on the hour-long loop to admire the Old Port views. Fun fact: “Game of Thrones” fans may recognise this site as the fictional Kings Landing.

We waited until after 5pm (17:00) to start our walk. This was 2nd week of September and it was not crowded at all. Stopped in a small bar that was so cute and then continued. When we got to the west side, there was a bar with THE BEST sunset view every. Met lovely people from Australia and watched an exquisite sunset. Great views of the sea, mountains and interior of old city, but beware walking in the heat of day. It's exposed to full sun with little shade. We are in our 70s and fit, but the steep steps were challenging. Enjoy a gelato afterward!Guest review byPatrickUnited States - 10.0
Go early as possible.
Go early as possible. We stayed over night in town as it just happened to be our first night in Croatia. Got on the walls 1st thing, I think we even got to the start 20 mins before opening, small queue. Seemed to get busy quite quickly.
