A beautiful park composed of miles of scenic beauty. Great for hikers but a bit of a trek for others as shuttle services going up to the castle have been discontinued due to Covid. It’s best to hire bikes but remember to prebook to avoid disappointment & sore feet! The castle, it’s grounds & gardens are wonderful to explore & the coffee shop is a lovely treat.
Go early in the day. You honestly could spend a good portion of your day here. If looking to eat in would recommend the visitor center as the tea room at the Castle is extremely busy and can't cope with crowds at peak times.
Gardens are beautiful especially in the summer. The park has great walks and scenery. A bit disappointed that the Castle has no more rooms open than when I first visited in the early 90's. The food in the tea room is lovely.
