Fantastic hotel near the castle and gardens with large comfortable rooms and delicious breakfast. The staff was very accommodating to us arriving late after lost baggage in Dublin and the kids had fun exploring the hotel and pub. We only stayed 1 night but wish it had been longer.

We had no idea that this hotel had so much history when we booked it. It is a piece of history and is absolutely gorgeous. The staff were exceptional, we still talk about the breakfast weeks later, and the rooms themselves were perfect. The location is perfect to walk through the city and explore.

Location is great, bed was super comfortable. We brought our dog and it was great, there's a bowl of doggie treats & some water at the reception desk so he felt welcome right from the get go. The staff are all so friendly and welcoming. We even loved the ironing room.

The English Market

This vibrant corner of Cork city centre has been a marketplace since 1788. Today its grand 19th-century hall houses colourful stalls that stock everything from freshly caught seafood to locally grown veggies. Pick up picnic supplies and tasty souvenirs downstairs, or tuck into traditional Irish dishes in the top-floor café.

This market is incredible; so much to take in, with all the different sights, smells and tastes. They have nearly every kind of food you can imagine, and all of the workers were kind and helpful. I would definitely recommend stopping when you’re in Cork.

You have to see it to believe it.

You have to see it to believe it. Longest fresh fish counter in Europe (I think) sooo many different breads ..... If you are self catering, you'll be spoilt for choice. If not, you'll wish you were by the variety of temptations !!

Great selection of homemade foods, jams, sauces, meats.

Great selection of homemade foods, jams, sauces, meats. The market is very well laid out, with plenty of space between the stalls. There is more than one exit and entrance, so parents, keep an eye on your kids. We went with teenagers. Gave them a few quid each, and they liked it

Good market produscts withpassionate and knowlegible stall holders. We were carefull to put our purchases into ordinary carrier bags before exiting and to know where we were heading as the surrounding streets seemed to have a high population of devients/troubled/ addicted/ homeless people.
