I probably had one of the best hotel stays ever at Hotel Lancelot. The hotel is centrally located near all the tourist attractions and is close to main bus routes too. Various staff members at the reception were friendly, helpful and had keen attention to detail. They always strived to exceed customer service. The rooms were spacious, cleaned regularly and had all the important amenities. Breakfast served had heaps of tasty and healthy option. I was also lucky to attend the New Year Gala dinner organised by the hotel for guests. The dinner served was fantastic and top notch quality! Since I was visiting by myself, the owners Helen and Lubna invited me to sit with them in their table and enjoy the evening. I thought that was a very kind gesture and focused on the hotel’s values of ensuring customer satisfaction. Lubna and Helen made me feel special and valued and I can not wait to visit this gem of a hotel again. Do yourself a favour and stay here for your next trip to Roma. I will be for sure telling my friends in Australia about this amazing hotel and will highly recommend to anyone. Thanks Hotel Lancelot :)

The Colosseum

The fights! The glory! This iconic arena specialized in gory ends. Built in the 1st century, it held up to 80,000 spectators who came to witness gladiatorial combat and bloody reenactments of naval battles. When you look up at the stands, it doesn’t take much imagination to hear the deafening roar of the crowds or to picture the fierceness on display.

Came at Christmas and the crowds were definitely a lot less than in the summer. We decided to pay for a tour guide to skip the crowd however, the tour was very long therefore we did leave half way through. It is well worth a visit, beautifully maintained and just an iconic trip.

No book with the agency Vivicos!!

No book with the agency Vivicos!! We booked via Booking with them Tickets for the Colosseum incl. Arena and the day before the event that changed the time to 1.45 hrs later. Then on the event day our tickets didn’t include the Arena. The claimed it was overbooked and therefore they changed our tickets for only the Colosseum. That didn’t reimburse the amount!! We paid €230, the Colosseum tickets price were €90. Vera bad experience!!!

Such a beautiful city tour with the I love Rome hop on-hop off. The stop is a bit far too walk for elderly people. I have to pay for extra for the tax to drive our 80 years old parents back and forth to the bus stop. It was raining hard in our remaining bus tour, of all 8 stop we just hop off once due to rain.

The hop on/off bus drops you 20 mins walk from the Coliseum as the actual stop is cancelled. The bus driver will tell you its an 8 minute walk despite as you will see it takes the bus 8 mins from passing the Coliseum until it reaches the stop. Result 40 mins walk added to visit. A con job. Extremely frustrating, annoying and a lie.

Worth p[aying for a guide to learn exactly what it is you are seeing. We went underground, on and all around to really get a feel of where the gladiators, animals and people had been in ancient times. Made it much more memorable and didn't have to fight with the very large crowds of people just standing about in their small areas.

Great location! The hotel is within easy walking distance of both the Colosseum (about 10 minutes down the road) and the Trevi Fountain. From the end of the street, you can even catch a glimpse of the top of the Colosseum. Our room faced the opposite side of the street and was completely quiet at night, which was surprisingly peaceful given how lively Rome is. As a result, we had a very good night's sleep.

We arrived in Rome Termini after returning our rental car at the airport and we were promptly met by our host. From the moment we were let in our kids proclaimed this the best stay of our trip. The apartment is beautifully furnished and well designed. It has a lovely view onto the pedestrian only street and is very close to the Colosseum, Forum, Victor Emanuel and has almost instant access to Trastevere. We will definitely return if available when we return to Rome.

The apartment is super cosy, quiet and comfortable! Location is just great, near good restaurants, grocery shops and very close to the Colosseum! Owner is a very kind, polite and helpful person. We booked the apartment late at night and he made his best to arrive as soon as possible, appreciated! AC in every room is a fantastic thing during summer in Rome. this is a quaint but very well done remodel of a fourth floor apartment in a building that is over 500 years old. It does have an elevator that is quite small, but very workable. The hostess is wonderful and was quite responsive to our requests. It is located a 5 minute walk from the Colosseum in the heart of Rome. I would certainly stay here again in the future.

Perfectly located in the old part of Rome with tiny winding streets and cobbled roads. Best of all, it was within 30 minutes walking distance of the Vatican/Sistine Chapel, the Colosseum, the Pantheon and the Trevi Fountain. The railway station was a 45mins walk. The area was full of restaurants and artisan shops. A very bohemian feel about the area. The apartment is a 5 minute walk to Piazza Navona, famous for its fountains

We arrived in Rome early and our room wasn't ready yet. The staff were so helpful in holding our bags while we toured the Colosseum and even directed the cleaning staff to attend to our room next so we could get our room early. They arranged a car for us that would pick up the rest of our party at the airport. Wonderful 3 bedroom apartment to rent - spacious, clean, and cozy.
