This is bigger than it looks, plenty of history, if you take the time to read the signs and notices around. It can get very hot walking around and up to Palletine Hill is not for the weak. It’s very strenuous, brilliant views at the top though, if you make it that far!
Absolutely amazing!!! In winter try and do a guided tour earlier as a late one lasting an hour will mean you will have no time to self exploreand you will regret it! Definitely do a guided tour though or atleast audio gudied tour. If possible to the collosseum and this on separate days but on the same days even it ll be ok if short for time
You can see virtually all that you need to see from the surrounding roads and pathways. Entrance to the Forum is not cheap, and there is a Forum-employed official who tries to direct queuers to the highly expensive guided tours. To this end, he derides the audio-guides as being 'useless'. We decided to give the whole thing a miss.
For history and literature buffs, this is the place where it all happened. Centrally located to the Coliseum, Trajan's Column, the Wedding Cake and museums and many other attractions. Watch out for the itinerants and illegal immigrants - no matter what story they spin, all they want is your money. Be firm and say NO, always.
3 tips that are an ABSOLUTE MUST!!!!!! 1. PRE BOOK TICKETS ONLINE. 2. ARRIVE EARLY - 08:30 3. get a guided tour - the best we had was FUN TOURS - DAVID and his wife CATERINA were exeptional. Alternatively download Rick Steve's Audio tour app to your phone wich is better than the audio guides you can purchase and is completely free. DO NOT JUST WONDER ROUND LOOKING AT OLD BRICKS!!! BONUS TIP - Book Davids Nightime Tour of Rome. He is extremely passionate and goes into great detail taking you under ground and giving you amazing depth of knowledge. His english is superb (without accent) and his delivery is casual yet engaging. He also uses radio mike which makes a huge difference. Far superior tour guide and very cheap too. Just 25euro for 2.5 hr tour which he ended up actaully 3.5 hours. cant recomend him highly enough. David +39 345 337 0484
A single tickets is issued for the Forum, Palatine, and colleseum. Make sure you see all that you want in the Palatine and forum before heading on to the Colleseum as you won't be able to get back in on the same ticket once you leave!

The location of the rooms was very good, with only a couple minutes walk from Termini station (train to airport). From the apartment, it is about a ~10min walk through the nice Colle Oppio park to the Colosseum and the Roman Forum. The rooms were nice and clean and quite silent, so we slept very well. Federica is very kind, she's helpful and makes excellent cappucinos! The breakfast is incredible and included fresh croissants, cake, mortadella, and other niceties that 'll fuel your Rome trip. In short, I highly recommend this place!
7.5 Good 109 reviews
The rooms are very clean, they provide towels (and good towels, which is rare in hostels) and the location is very close to the main terminal of Rome (coaches from both airports, trains to many cities, a metro station and good - though expensive - food). And it is also a walking distance from the Coliseum (and as a consequence, to the Roman Forum, Domus Aurea and many other attractions). And if you like to walk, it is about 1:30 from the Vatican, and even closer to the Villa Borghese, with its many museums.

It was an excellent stay. Hotel was brilliant and our room was beyond expectation. Breakfast was delivered to us on time every morning and the staff were so helpful and friendly. Location is also perfect. 5/10 minute walk from Roman Forum, Colosseum and Pantheon. 10 minute car journey to Vatican too. Would highly recommend!

If it's your first time in Rome and you want to spend time visiting the Colosseum and Roman Forum you will be very well located. It's also within walking distance to other main attractions in Rome. The suite with a view is quite large compering with other hotels.

The place was in a great location to access the Colosseum and Roman forum. Nancy who was the staff there was really friendly and helpful checking us in and giving us tips to see things. We loved the place and wouldn't mind coming back to stay in the future!

The hostel was very close to Colosseum and Roman Forum. Everything was clean and compfy. We spent our evenings in bars and restaurants close to the hostel which were mostly visited by Romans. We enjoyed it a lot 😊

Superb location with roof top terrace that overlooks the Roman forum. Breakfast was very nice. GianLuca was very helpful and organised my airport transfer on my behalf.

The location is close to Colosseum and Roman Forum, while also easily accessible from Termini station. We were given a bottle of water every day for free, that was nice.
Pre-book tickets to the Vatikan (guided tour to see the high lights recommended) and tickets to the Colosseum. These can also be bought at the entrance to Forum Romanum (shorter line).
Nothing beats the ruins of the Roman Forum where the ancient Romans once trod.
Capitoline museum has a roof top café with fantastic views- also on another level there is a panoramic view of the roman forum - both worth the entry fee!
Vatican City and if you can use your imagination the the Roman Forum
Visit the Forum and walk down Fori Imperiali in the evening - amazing.
Buy the ticket for Colloseum at the enterence to Forum Romanum and Palatin, you will avoid giant line (3 attractions cost altogether 12 euro)! FAst track ticket for the VAtican Museum is also good idea (we did it), you can buy at the enterence to the St. Peter's Basilic. It is quite expensive, but it helps you to avoid huge line and to see both attractions during one day.
