Go in the morning and you can walk around inside the theatre. We were lucky enough to be there whilst the La Scala ballet were rehearsing for the opening night of Swan Lake. Really something special. The theatre museum is also worth visiting if you are an opera buff. When we visited there was an exhibition of the opera work of director Franco Zefferelli

Sumptuous theater, wonderful museum.
Sumptuous theater, wonderful museum. We attended a performance of Verdi's Ernani, it was superb, sets orchestra, costumes, glorious singing, exceptional acoustics. We were in the most upper tier, could not get better seats, we felt as if were sitting in the orchestra pit and among the performers. Priceless

The same day tickets are very limited view. You have to stand to see the stage as they are on the 5th and 6th balcony I believe. Try to get orchestra seating. The back of each seat has a screen with subtitles in Italian and English which was helpful. We got a $50 discount on each ticket for being seniors. Made a booking online but did not realise it was in a private box...enjoyed the company of the others in the box. Show was wonderful...two short operas with english translation on a screen in the box.

The apartment was spacious, if a little sparsely decorated, but quite comfortable. Good windows shut out all street noise, as there are a couple of local bars just underneath which were quite busy every night. Location was fabulous: easy walking to the Brera shopping areas, we went to La Scala which was a fifteen minute walk. Overall we were very happy with the place and its location.
