After viewing the Pisa Tower I would strongly recommend a walk up on the wall of the old town of Pisa. Do this either early morning or closer to Sun set. Cooler and more beautiful views from the walk.

Most people take their photos right in front.
Most people take their photos right in front. There are hundreds of people especially between 10am and 3pm. Go around 4pm and walk to the other side of the tower. You get great shots and less crowded areas.

We happened to be at the Leaning Tower just before 10pm and got tickets for walking up with no queue. Worth trying at this time if you didn't manage to get tickets during the day (it closed at 10pm when we were there in August 2019).

The leaning tower is, well, leaning.
The leaning tower is, well, leaning.. great to see this iconic landmark, but not sure it is worth paying €18 to go up it. I preferred the view from the ground. I recommend visiting at night when it was cooler and less crowded, but beautifully illuminated.

It was good to see such a famous building. The buildings surrounding the tower including the cathedral are beautiful (we only had chance to see it from the outside.) It was surprisingly crowded near the tower despite it being a Monday evening (6.30 p m) in April.

Wear flat shoes. We went along early as we hadn’t booked and got tickets for entry at 9:45 which was great, we literally walked from ticket office, took some photos, placed our belongings in the lockers provided and were literally the 3rd and 4th in the queue!

Great location, steps away from the Pisa train station and a 15-20 minute walk to the city's main attraction: Leaning Tower of Pisa! Friendly staff but most of all the included breakfast is one of the most generous I've had in quite some time. Very wide variety of offerings with attentive staff ensuring all trays are constantly filled. This hotel definitely needs a massive makeover but while one may see the glass half empty, you can make also make the case that this hotel is a wonderful "time capsule"

You can book tickets ahead for the Leaning Tower of Pisa - we bought tickets at the booking office to go up the tower for the following day. They are sold in blocks and in August you can book for times running well into the evening (we did 7.30pm) when it is a little cooler!
