I thought I would never get into the Fenice and I found a seat for that very evening and not too expensive. It was the second row of an extreme side box but I had a great view. The theatre is magnificent and the performance of Donizetti's Lucia de Lammamour was out of this world. I went in jeans as I had no formal clothes with me and it was seen as OK for a tourist.
Don’t think twice about the price, go to the box office, be polite and you may just be surprised by the tickets on offer. I saw La Traviata in a fantastic stalls seat - enjoying the production immensely, and the remarkably beautiful theatre. It has possibly the best acoustics I’ve ever experienced !! ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ star
Замачательный театр с прекрасной сценой и интересной историей. Отдельно стоит отметить, что знаменитая Мария Калос посвятила этому театру несколько лет своей карьеры. Ей посвящена экспозиция на одном из этажей.
The opera ticks were expensive and whilst La Traviatra" orchestra and singers were wonderful, they only dressed in cocktail dress. The sets were ordinary. The Teatro was lovely. Overpriced. There were plenty of other and better concerts we could have attended - didnt - as we only found them in passing. Recommendation - dont do Le Fenice.
Try to go too a performance but do not pay a low price for a seat because the sight lines are not good. I saw Rossini's Barber of Seville which I would describe as an average performance. Certainly Welsh National Opera have performed it to a much higher standard.
Pay the ticket price to see round this amazing teatro. Read the book "The city of fallen angels". It will make you want to visit Venice and this amazing building. Or pay the price and book tickets to see a ballet or opera there. That's what is now on my list for my next visit to Venice. Can't wait!!
My small room at the top of the stairs felt like being in a boat cabin - quite apt for a night in Venice. It’s wooden interior was warm and cosy (but air conditioning was very effective)and I was surprised to find some tv channels in English. Best breakfast I have had in my travels around Italy - even a fresh pancake maker provided and delicious creamy scrambled eggs. It is very close to Teatro la Fenice - about 4 minutes walk.
The hotel is located 5min from piazza San Marco and just around the corner of Teatro La Fenice. Staff was always more than friendly and Chiara made a real effort to make us feel welcome and explain Venetian habits and culture! We will be coming back!
