Set directly along the banks of the Arno river, Hotel Lungarno is less than 100 metres from Florence's Ponte Vecchio. Excellent location. Big attractions at only few 100 meters walking distance.
For me, this wasn't as interesting as Uffizi Galleria, so if you only have to go to one, go to Uffizi. However, I bought the combined ticket, which meant that for 38 euro, I could go to the Uffizi, Pitti Palace, and Boboli Gardens within a three-day period, so it was worth it for that. Best parts? Royal apartments are amazing of course, more for the decor than for the art they contain. Modern gallery was my favorite section for art. Worst? The paintings are hung all over the walls, sometimes very high up near the ceiling, sometimes catching bad glares from the windows or lights. This makes it difficult to appreciate them. Also, don't waste your time with their cafe. Their service is awful--I waited 30 minutes and no one EVER took my order--and also overpriced. You're better off eating in the square surrounding the palace.
Make sure your ticket specifies the gardens, palace, or both. The choices weren’t clear, compelling a return to the ticket booth for palace tickets after touring the gardens. Great views of the city from the gardens.
The Palace is beautiful. So much to see. The cafe service was not great, sat for ages and no one came to us so I went in they said someone would serve us at a7€ charge, so sat back outside and waited and no service. Gave up, realised others had left too.
So much to see needs more than one visit to the Palace. The attached Baboli gardens are extensive and lovely, could spend a leisurely full day there, pity there was no open air cafe/restauant in the actual gardens.
Well, who could rate this place as anything but incredible? It's opulent, packed to the gunnels with paintings, jewellery, incredible inlaid tables, ivory (sad face here), glass, silver, etc. In many ways it's obscenely amazing. You realise just how much the Medici's had. Still, there it all is to gaze upon to the point of being totally overwhelmed by the velvets and the oils and the chandeliers. BTW, where'd the servants lived. I'd have loved to see their rooms.
A mind-blowing series of exhibition of riches and possession of the Medici dynasty - an absolute must-see, particularly as the volumes of visitors are in contrast to the Uffizi gallery. A combination ticket will provide access to the Boboli Gardens, a city oasis with fantastic viewpoints.
Exceptionally convenient for visiting Pitti Palace, Boboli Gardens, and sights on the south side of the Arno. Easy walk to the Uffizi and less than a mile to the Duomo. One mile from the train station. We were here only one night and had a large triple with private external bath (across the hall). Room was large. Bed was very firm. AC worked well. The bathroom and shower are very nice. There is a lift/elevator.
Exceptional location, beautiful furnished house and rooms, classical ambiance, great garden, safe parking, close to the Porta Romana, the Plaza Michelangelo and Pitti Palace. Most restaurants, terraces and shops are on walking distance. You also can take a bus down town.
Very spacious and comfortable stay. On site parking garage was convenient and was only 15 Euros per day - which is a great deal! Location is good - it took my family with three kids about 30 minutes to walk to Pitti Palace, the farthest place we visited from hotel.
- enormous, well equipped room - fantastic location (5 minutes walk to the Uffizi, 2 minutes to the Pitti Palace) - every staff member we met was very helpful - good communication over WhatsApp - several breakfast option on the street
The location was great, very central. Main attractions of Florence were just down the road (Pitti Palace, Boboli Gardens, Ufizi Gallery), only a short walk to the train station, and lots of nice restaurants nearby.
Staff were very helpful and friendly. Air conditioning was a God send. Large bathroom in the room we had. Our balcony had phenomenal views of the Pitti Palace.
Unbelievable place. Best view to Pitti Palace. Food and main attractions within reach. Real fair trade
The Pitti Palace was just awesome, and is hardy mentioned in the guidebooks - fabulous ceilings!
The uffize and the pitti palace and the gardens of the palace are breathtaking
