These mosaics are amazing - unbelievable. The whole site is very well preserved and protected. We did not hire a guide which proved to be a difficulty as there were times when we would see people in a different part of the Villa and have no idea how to get there; we explored around, came in a side access, and were almost thrown out! We were ultimately able to see the whole place. I was disappointed afterwards that there didn't seem to be any good-quality publications showing the mosaics and giving the history of the place. There were a couple booklets, but the quality was really poor. These are spectacularly beautiful mosaics!
This display of mosaics is incredible, and expansive. A terrific site that is well covered, so you can take your time to absorb the work that went into this. We spent a couple of hours there - easily. Might be worthwhile reading up on it before you get there.
The villa is very well presented, with good signage in English. Don’t miss the Greek era ruins nearby at Morgantina; about 5kms east of Piazza Armerina. These can be visited on a combined ticket with the villa del Casale. The ruins are of a whole town set on top of a hill with theatre, agora and villas - very peaceful and atmospheric. Bring a picnic as there’s just one trattoria nearby.
Amazing place. Definitely a highlight of our trip to Sicily! TIP: bring cash if you plan to eat at this location. The cafeteria on site does not take credit. Also, the price posted is misleading. Everything is a la carte. Very expensive. TIP 2: Hire a guide. It’s worth the extra money to know what you’re looking at.
This was a 'must see'. Can get very busy. Arrived late morning but was fairly quiet viewing time. Perhaps all the coach parties evident from the car park soon left for lunch. Possibly a good time to visit if you are not an early bird?
It can get pretty crowded. Try walking around it the right way round, then go back the other way - you’ll find loads of things you missed the first time! We were there in September - it might not be possible to walk against the flow of tourist traffic in peak times
Hosts were extremely accommodating and friendly. Food was amazing! They even gave us a picnic! It’s like staying in an agriturismo in a small city because you get an amazing dinner made by the hosts consisting of local seasonal fresh food. The breakfasts were also freshly prepared with local artisanal meats and cheeses and beautiful baked goods. We had a lovely time. The location is perfect and convenient to see the mind-blowing sites of Morgantina and Villa Romana Del Casale. I recommend without hesitation.
The whole place is decorated with a great sense of taste. The staff is really helpful and knowledgeable. The sulfuric swimming pool is a great attraction. It is located very close to the Villa Romana Del Casale. Breakfasts are a feast and prepared with care. It is possible to order a dinner and try out local cuisine. An additional bonus is the possibility to buy locally made products, which we can certainly recommend. There is a private parking lot at the property.
Very considerate and helpful host. Convenient location to our visit to the Villa Romana del Casale. Nice breakfast We arrived late around midnight, and the host kindly waited for us and welcomed our arrival.
Beautiful location and property. Very close to Villa Romana del Casale, friendly host, good breakfast!
