Definitely an interesting area for nightlife in Tokyo.
Definitely an interesting area for nightlife in Tokyo. Once you've navigated Shinjuku station, you'll find yourself having to navigate the streets and alleys of Kabukicho. If you want a place to drink, hit up Golden-gai, but be prepared to wait for a seat at the bar or to pay a service charge.Jack - 10Scored 10

Golden Gai is an eclectic small enclave that houses many cool little bars. Don't be afraid, there is a basic bar charge ranging from 500 yen, its your entrance charge. Drinks are priced with some menu items. My favorite is a photography centric bar called Kodoji. Hands down a very cool place to walk around and learn about japanese culture. Samurai theater is probably not for everybody's taste.
Samurai theater is probably not for everybody's taste. Noisy, kitschy, maybe. But for me, visiting "Mokubakan" in Kabuki-cho opened a world of understanding for the history and tradition that is the foundation for Anime and Manga, and a lot of other cultural influences. You don't need to speak the language to pick up the essential vibe, and most of the audience will be elderly Japanese women. I was there first time in 2012, as part of a group, and I re-visited it in 2019. And was as impressed as the first time. (The show is three hours, with a break in between, so bring some food and drink. And maybe even some snacks to share with your neighbors.)

My stay was actually really good as I leave each day very early. The room was clean and it had every kind of amenities, even karaoke! Also, it's very close to Shinjuku station, which is very busy, but gives you a point of departure to all Tokyo.

Quiet, city view. 6 minutes walk to Nishi Shinjuku station. 10 minutes walk to Isetan department store for 5pm discounted sushi! Groceries, convenience stores nearby. Host is VERY responsive to messages and kind. I have been to Tokyo 12 times in the past 14 months, and will book here again!

The hotel was very clean and comfortable, there were several convenience stores in the doorstep, and the staff were very pleasant and helpful. I would stay here again!

It was within a small walking distance of EVERYTHING Shinjuku to include Kabukicho. The staff was super friendly and spoke more than enough english to help me with anything and everything. Also, in the even that luggage transport is backed up, the hotel offers a baggage keeping service that is not advertised. On the day of your checkout, they will keep your luggage until you are ready to leave the area AS LONG AS you claim your luggage from them the same day!! This was a GREAT service.
