Distinction Te Anau Hotels & Villas overlooks the spectacular Lake Te Anau and the Fiordland ranges. It offers elegant rooms with lake and garden views. Beautiful rooms, good good and drinks, excellent location!
We loved it! Milford Sound was incredible. Mirror Lakes wasn’t great as it was cloudy. The Chasm was crowded with tour buses when we got there so we couldn’t get a park so we gave it a miss. Lake Gunn was beautiful!
We ended up here after walking the Milford Track. Had to wait here for our bus. The centre is very clean and spacious, but disappointing to find no small cafe available for all the walkers. Everyone was hungry and wanting a good coffee and a decent muffin/scone etc. Disappointing to find the only food available in the centre was from a vending machine.
This was made so much more awesome by the map provided by the Lakeside Holiday Park. It had over 20 different stops along the way with a description of length of the walk, photo opportunities and what you might see.
Leave early on your trip to Milford Sound to catch the reflections on the Mirror Lakes. The lunch cruise is a good option with the underwater observatory added in. Save the side walks/trips for the journey back
Did the Doubtful Sound overnight cruise with Southern Secret Cruises - and had the opportunity to experience the spectacular Doubtful Sound in all its brooding grandeur. We would do it again in a heart beat!
Some of the staff are very strange. One woman refused to sell me hut passes because I was 'underestimating' the Dusky track and didn't have sufficient food nor equipment. I did the track in even less time than anticipated so it shows that the staff clearly know very little.
