Visit the Bird Sanctuary. Costs nothing. They are a breeding centre relying on rescues who cannot return tom the wild. Whilst their young are rewilded once ready and fully fledged. It was in a quiet neighborhood and you can literally walk across the street to get onto the lakeshore or the walking path that goes around Lake Te Anau. The two rooms were spacious and comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped. The laundry facilities were excellent. The location is a short walk from a park and public beach. The managers were always on site and pleasant and helpful. Fiordland is stunningly beautiful and the best part of our trip.
