An atmospheric and historic building in the central heritage district of Oamaru. The renovations that have been done to meet modern expectations of convenience and comfort have been done with respect to the original. The staff were welcoming and helpful. Facilities are basic but price is quite reasonable and made up for by the character, location and friendly staff of the property. At the time I stayed, it was quiet and parking, although on the street, was not a problem at all.

The views from the common room were amazing and the fire place created a comfy atmosphere. My only regret is that we did not stay an extra night. Hope to be back one day!

A very welcoming, clean and comfortable place to stay! Dawn was so helpful and responsive. We were only a short 5 minute drive from the penguin colony and Dawn kindly offered us blankets to wrap in for the cold evening adventure - thank you! We enjoyed the lovely breakfast too!

    Great little place.

    Great little place. If driving go into the carpark - Not the cafe - and you can walk to the beach free. If you go to the cafe you have to buy a ticket to walk down their steps to the same beach. Funniest thing we saw was people madly chasing their tickets along the beach which had fallen out of pockets! Boulders are a fun activity, worth stopping to look at

    The location was amazing. This is the cutest, quaintest little place, with a stunning view, and a five minute walk from the beach or the tavern. Easily walkable to the Moeraki Boulders beach, and Hugh gave us great tips re collecting a heap of green lipped mussels at low tide - delicious! The only thing we were sad about was that we only had one night here, en route to the north island. Would definitely return, and would definitely recommend.
