AustraliaWe really loved the family rooms - they were warm despite the cold temperatures. The hot water systems (i.e. the showers) were excellent. Finding the hotel and accessing the car park was also very easy. The restaurant (the spiral) also served very high quality food. The cost of the rooms was outstanding value for money.

The room was wonderful and comfortable with glorious views. When we had an early morning, Mazz provided us with an amazing lunch for our hike.
When we arrived, we were provided with proper tea and biscuits on the deck over the stream and garden. The breakfast was excellent and deluxe. We felt so spoiled with many options and china, linens, and plenty
When I lost my camera, Mazz went out of her way to help me retrieve it by calling the park office and others. Calling every possible option. Above the call of duty..
Simon has wonderful stories and they are both brilliantly funny. We felt very at home and cared for

Weather conditions were clear and bright, mild cold temperatures so a very minimal amount of ice on the road. We recommend the sky waka gondola. The isite leaves a lot to be desired.
The isite leaves a lot to be desired. It could easily go from barely adequate to basic competence by putting boards outside stating the office is closed. As walkers are supposed to register their walks on the mountain you wonder how accurate their information is when the office is closed and there isn’t even a notice board outside for walkers to use to show they’ve left or returned. The village in summer, now the Chateau is closed, has very little available accommodation. There is a shop for basics and Skotel runs a great restaurant and bar.Guest review byLinAustralia - 8.0

Absolutely recommend the 2 hour walk to Taranaki Falls. You can do it in sneakers, some parts are lovely bush right alongside the river. The landscape keeps changing. Its beautiful and the air is so fresh. There's a table at the falls so take your picnic and stop for a while. Get your caffeine fix from TNT Pataka Food Truck at Whakapapa Holiday Park, they make a decent coffee and the food looked good too. Hi, It is better to plan your trip for at least two days. You can enrol your kids to ski school at the nearby school for a longer duration trip so that they learn the art of skiing. Bringing chains with the car will help you to revisit the Whakapapa skiing location often and reduce the commute cost. Has a great alpine chalet vibe with a really cosy bar overlooking the volcano. Good family room with bunks and nice fresh white linen. Even though the hotel is slightly dated the proper hotel linen makes everything feel clean and fresh. They had a games room and kids area which was great for the kids - they loved it. Next time I would probably ask for a room as far away from the kitchen as possible as we could hear noise from the kitchen, however we took the cheapest option avaliable and I really think we got great value for the price.
