Superb UNESCO heritage, absolutely must-visit! The fortress is consisted of several museums, if you tell where you want to visit on the ticket counter, the time for each entry is occasionally scheduled in place, it is the best time for you without queuing. Treasury is the definite attraction.
The main object is Wavel Royal Cathedral. The tickets can only be purchased at the ticket office (starts from 9.00 am, mon-sat). It it best to go there early in the morning, because there will be lots of people. You buy one ticket to Cathedral, Sigismund's Bell, Royal Sarcophaguses, Cathedral museum (one ticket for 14 pln, and grab an audio guide 9 pln)
We was waiting in the que to buy a tickets for a long time over one hour and when we was second at the que it was a 30 min break then we just decide to not waiting any longer. We left the que because it was that hot I could cope waiting any longer.
I went there without prior booking at around 11 am and I was told that there are not any tickets left and I should try and come the next day kne hour before the opening. Absolutely ridiculous! How can a castle be fully booked? How is this even possible? If you dont want tourists then close it down!
If you're going there with babies a baby carry bag will be necessary. It's not a baby friendly location at all. Of course our idea wasn't to visit the tower or similar place but you cannot use stroller even during the garden tour.
Tickets can be bought only at the castle on the date of your visit so it would be best to arrive there early in the morning because they have a limited number of tickets on sale for each day and they run out pretty quickly. There are separate tickets for parts of the castle and those for the royal apartments are sold out the quickest.. poor ticket service anyway
Pros: excellent location with Kazimierz at hand and Vistula bank, Wawel royal castle and main town square in walk distance. Def good breakfasts, spacy room, friendly staff. Underground garage is a bit small, so SUV and big sedan lovers watch out ;).
Great location, near to Wawel Royal Castle, friendly staff, big spacious rooms, elevator, big back yard.
The room is clean, spacious. You can walk to Main Market Square and Wawel Royal Castle from the hotel.
Wawel Castle, Wieliczka Salt Mines and Auschwitz-Birkenau are places that make history come to life.
Wawel castle, Kazimierz and Old City with Mariacki church and Sukiennice (Old market) anywhere you turn your head there is something historical to see, it is extraordinary place.
A trip to Krakow would be incomplete without visits to Wawel Castle and St. Mary's Cathedral.
There's an underground museum in the main square which we missed but is recommended. Wawel Castle takes you way back and of course there is the more recent history of the Second World War when the Jewish population were forced into the ghetto south of the river and of course Auschwitz-Birkenau. Time to reflect.
