Beautiful. The best way to go is to use the boat from the centre of town. A lovely trip down the river and cheap too! The island was hot hot hot when we were there. Make sure you take all you need for the trip to the beach as there are only a few bars / restaurants. Busy near the path from the boat but you can walk only a few hundred metres and have the beach to yourself
Restaurants on Ilha de Tavira or Tavira Municipality need to invest in a serious upgrade of current WC's to beach ! Seriously disgusting. Pedro del Rei, Santa Luzia & Cabanas put Ilha de Tavira toilets to shame.
The beach is beautiful and very clean. Good walks amongst the pine woods and the more energetic will enjoy the walk west to Santa Luzia where a footbridge or ferry (May-Sept) will bring you back to the mainland.
The beach is lovely and great for a walk, but getting of the boat and walking through was a bit off putting with rubbish laying around and a bit run down and the public toilets are a lot to be desired!!! April beginning of the season!!!
Great beach, as long as its not windy. The trip by ferry (in season) takes about 20 mins and is like a mini river cruise. Modest cost - 2 euros return, I think. Ferries possibly very crowded at height of season.
An idyll! A lovely little inn with a great pool set in beautiful gardens. The inn is within walking distance of the town with plenty of restaurants. It is also a short walk to the ferry to Tavira island. There are no 'additional services' and guests are left to themselves. Staff can, however, be found when needed and were very helpful booking taxis etc. This is a great place to completely relax. I hope we will be back and I would recommend to family and friends.
- Perfectly located place, by the river, just next to the ferry that will bring you to Tavira Island - in the the old part of Tavira - Hotel owners are very friendly and helpful - Room had air condition - nice view with a quiet street and beautiful Portuguese houses around - the rooftop terrace where you can get some quiet and see all the old city, watch the stars - breakfast included in the price was good enough - couldn't wish for anything more
