We did this palace as the last one, which made it a bit boring. It is less stonning than e.g. the pena palace, yet worth seeing. I would advise to start with this palace and as such build up to the extravagance of the pena palace and monserrate.

Great visit but finished on a very conflictual and disappointing note : I, as well as multiple other tourists, tried to visit the gardens 20 minutes before the palace closing time. We were denied access under the pretense that the gardens close 15 minutes before the palace and that 5 minutes wasn't enough to visit the gardens. We were not told this when we purchased the tickets, and contrary to the guard's claims, this information was not written in the fine print behind the receipt. She was very unpleasant, going so far as to criticize me for taking 3 hours to visit instead of 2 (I was pacing myself precisely to end my visit with the gardens).

Our hostess was very helpful with check in, stowing the car, and recommending a good nearby restaurant, not that there aren't dozens of great ones within walking distance. In particular she recommended Raiz Sintra, about a fifteen minute walk away. This location is a great spot for visiting nearby Pena Palace, The Moorish Castle, Quinta da Regaleira and closest of all, Sintra National Palace. The room had a lovely view of the Sintra area, especially at night. Would stay here again in a heartbeat if we were ever back in Sintra.

The breakfast was amazing. Also, Alexandra, the host, was so loving and accommodating. She especially helpful with and sweet to our baby. We really loved our stay! Villa Bela Vista made our visit to sintra special!
