This is a wonderful, world-class, old-school theater. We recommend the center parterre boxes. During intermission, be sure to take a walk around the gold and crystal main public hall and get a glass of champagne from the cafe. Online ticketing actually worked. We were able to take a bus very smoothly to/from Nevsky Prospect.
If you get to this theatre which is quite decentred from the heart of Spb, make sure to buy a ticket and attend an event. The structure per sé is pretty much anonymous and, from the exterior, there's nothing that may attract a tourist's attention.
Best ever shame programme in Russian only. Dinner with ballerina after the performance was soooo enjoyable. Thanks to ballerina Marina Teterina and interpreter Elena Khamidullina for such a magical evening. I saw 2 Ballet’s A midsummer nights dream and Giselle
If you want to see real balet - clasical or modern - you have to go to Maarinsky. All the persons participating to the show - balet dancers, conductor, orchestra - are realy high quality preofessionists and this is linkt with their souls, the sensitivity and sensibility of roussian soul give a plus to the profesionality of their art. Is obvious that for them all make sens what they do, they like and love what they do and want to share with you the joy the have when performing.
Very generous yummy breakfast and the host always smiling. There are 2 shared bathrooms in the property, which are spotless at any time. Perfect location many main sights within walking distance, just off Nevsky Prospect, under 5 min walk to the Ermitage. All 3 major cathedrals are within 10 min walk. Mariinsky Theatre is also fairly nearby 15-20 walk. Metro station(s) nearby with good connection for travelling to more distant sights e.g. Peter and Paul Fortress. Warmly recommended.
The arrival of this little 2 star hotel to the market must have been a blow to the Holiday Inn located right across the road, which charges twice for a similar room. The hotel’s name means “The Pilgrim’s House”. It offers simple yet comfortable stay. Newly renovated, clean and ideally located for the Mariinsky Theatre, the St Nicholas Cathedral and the Crime and Punishment locations. Nice and friendly personnel. Even some basic yet adequate breakfast included.
Very reasonably priced. Room was clean and warm. The wifi was good. There was a small refrigerator in the room which was especially useful with St Petersburg in lock down and all restaurants closed. Good choices at the breakfast buffet. Less than 10 minutes walk from the Mariinsky Theatre and only about 30 minutes from the Hermitage. The street was quiet but that may have been partly due to the lock down.
The room clean and comfortable, well-appointed although not luxurious, in a fantastic location near the Mariinsky Theatre and the St Petersburg Conservatory. Staff efficient, service pleasant, and helpful. Absolutely fascinating murals, c. 1980, in the stairwell giving the history of the Soviet Union up to the year of the Moscow Olympics.
perfectly located in the historical centre of St. Petersburg, a few doors away from the Yusupov Palace and within a few minutes walk from the Mariinsky Theatre, St. Isaac's Cathedral, and the Palace Square.
Perfect location for those who want to visit the synagogue and/or the Mariinsky theatre. One of my favourite old city neighbourhoods. Great amenities for the price.
Or yeah. The Mariinsky theatre ballet dancers are the best example of Russian ballet school
