Certainly a must-do in Thailand. Incredible architecture and an insight into Buddhism from a Thai perspective. Loved our visit to the Grand Palace. Important that both males and females have long trousers or skirts with no shoulder showing - no shorts allowed at all. They won't let you in. There is an enterprising shop across the road making a killing selling long pants.
All visitors have to wear long trousers and cover shoulders - if you don't, you will have to purchase overpriced items. December 2022 - all visitors had to wear masks, unsure why as they weren't required anywhere else in Thailand, not even on the metro.
Come as early as possible. Get audio guide, hat, water. Enjoy your 90 min audio guide. Too crowded nowadays, we dont enjoy it. We did enjoy Queen Sirikit Textile Museum in the same complex. I think people should go there - also cool with AC and clean bathroom!
If you are a woman, make sure you have long pants, or skirts... they really don't let you in, if you show some part of your legs, even your ankles... then you have to rent pants outside for $10 dollars... which is extremely annoying... just save yourself the trouble and dress appropiately
Go early & take lots of water with you. It can get hot pretty quickly! Avoid the taxi drivers/scammers at the front & do your research (TripAdvisor) before you go - you don't want a scam to ruin your trip
The place is usually packed with people, and we weren't able to experience it fully as we had to come out due to the overly crowded paths. If you can come at a better time where people aren't overflowing like crazy, you may be able to at least enjoy the view. Otherwise, take a trip to other temples that aren't as crowded as this one.
Bangkok
Good location, within walking distance to the grand palace, bus stops all around (inc. Both airports buses). Lovely neighbourhood with a mixture of hostels and local residents, even a Thai tour guide was positively surprised by the vibe of the surroundings when picking me up for the tour. Dorms are quiet and have AC. Bathrooms are clean. There is a washing machine, dryer, steamer and a hair dryer available (some for extra charge). There's a little kitchenette in the lobby with a few basic utensils and a kettle (no hob/over etc).
Bangkok
Booked this place for somewhere quiet and affordable but within walking distance of Khao San and Bangkok attractions such as Grand Palace. The area was quiet and always felt safe, even after dark. The hotel room was clean, quiet and had basic kitchen for making hot drinks etc. There was hot water, coffee and microwave at reception. Close to multiple 7-Elevens and a 10-15 minute walk to train station. The backpacker area around Khao San was a half hour walk across the river.
Excellent location. Small hotel with few rooms. Next to The Grand Palace, Wat Pho, Wat Arun and right in front of the river. There are many restaurants and local shops in the area. The staff were 5 stars. Very attentive, always available and friendly. We stayed in a room with a view of the river and Wat Arun. Amazing view. Great size room. Good hotel if you want to stay in this area of the city close to the main monuments, the river and with a nice view.
Wattana, Bangkok
Very large apartment with 3 bedrooms (with good beds) and 3 bathrooms. Nice pool with great view. Great host who took the time to show the place and the area and also proposed great activities. Quiet and secure location very close to the taxi boat, only 2-3 stops from Asoke where you have an MRT stop (Blue Line) that takes you to the major locations (Terminal 21, Lumphini Park, Chinatown, the Grand Palace...).
It is an excellent location for those trying to explore the temples and Old Bangkok. It is 10 minutes from Khaosan Road, 25 minutes away from the Grand Palace and Wat Po and a 31-minute walk from Wat Arun. The bedrooms are nice and simple, and you get what you pay for. The AC worked perfectly, they provide you with two bottles of water per day and you have housekeeping service available every day.
Very clean and spacious. The jacuzzi in the room was lovely and the rooftop pool and gym were also really nice! Good location for visiting main tourist areas like the Grand palace (15 mins walk) /reclining Buddha (28 min) / Khao San road (10 min). Hotel itself was nicely decorated, very staff and definitely excellent value for money - would highly recommend!
The hotel is well situated, in a walking distance from the Grand Palace, Wat Pho and Khao San road. The room is airy, clean, correct for a 3 star hotel. The bed is comfy, rather large with 2 pillows for each of us. The staff is very helpful and polite. The breakfast is a mix of Thai and western cuisine with 5/6 options to choose from.
Nice hotel close to chinatown. We only stayed one night, could have spent more time here. Lovely pool on the 12th floor with great views. Nice and clean rooms and bathrooms. The adjoining door between our rooms could not open. Close to metro to go to grand palace etc. Possible to arrange airport transport.
The hotel is situated within walking distance of Khao San road, various temples and the grand palace. Staff were very friendly and spoke very good English. Room was clean and tidy. Easy check in/check out.
Hotel staff were really good, location is great for access to Khaosan Rd area (this is also a negative too) and 20 mins walk to the Grand Palace etc. Pool was great too. Loads of bars and restaurants nearby.
The Wat Yawanna (boat temple), Wat Arun, Wat Pho and the Grand Palace will definitely take you back in time.
