A great hotel. Definitely meets every reasonable need. The staff is exceptionally kind and efficient. The location of the hotel is also excellent, with immediate access to the tram and metro. We used the hotel to book a shuttle to and from the airport. The service is reliable, and the price is reasonable. The room is comfortable, and the breakfast is good. We will definitely stay at the hotel again on our next vacation in Istanbul.

Galata Tower

Medieval Galata Tower pierces the clouds above Istanbul’s skyline, a soaring structure to the north of the Golden Horn. A replacement for a previous tower destroyed in the crusades, this one was built by the Genoese in 1348. For hundreds of years, it was the tallest building in Istanbul – its highest balcony still has the best views of the city today.

While the tower is great vantage point, overlooking the entire Golden Horn, the admission tickets are quite expensive and the place is crammed with crowds. If you decide to visit anyway, aim for the 30min before sunset

Another joke which is not even Turkish, as most of the monuments. Anyway. 35 euros just to inside the tower. If you want to use the lift you’ll pay 60 euros to enter. Told you these guys are born thieves! Amazing.

It's good that they have installed a set of lifts to get to the top of the tower. So you are not walking up too many steps. Best to get there early or towards sunset to see spectacular views with the mosques and the sea across Istanbul.

Definitely a must. Go in the early evening as the night lights are awesome. Museum Pass is a must - this is one of the places you can visit with it. I bought a 5 day pass for 700 TL at Topkapi Palace.
