Hire one of those little yellow three wheeler cars. The best way to see San Francisco. Good fun and comes with a talking GPS that tells you all you need to know on the way. And you get to drive down Lombard street without having to wait. Awesome experience.
Great views of the city from streets to the North and South. Less tourists to spoil the view. Walk down, not up. Walk down the right side to get better photos if visiting early in the day, that way the sun will not be in your lens.
Didn't even see it. Trolley and bus tours don't take you close enough. We drove by the top side of it, but hills are so steep that you can't see anything from the top. I recommend driving by the bottom of the curved section to see it.
If you are there on a weekend, cars can be lined up for 3 blocks to make the drive down San Fran's famous crooked street! It's just as fun to stand at the bottom and watch the cars come down. Or rent one of those 3 wheel self-drive little yellow vehicles & come down Lombard Street.
Around the corner on Chestnut is the San Francisco Art Institute. I didn’t even know there was a huge Diego Rivera mural inside. It is amazing. As is the Art in the gallery. No idea why it’s not in any tour be books. Great find.
We stayed at Travelodge on Lombard near the Presidio. We received excellent service from Travelodge employees, Raymond--who expertly imparted fantastic tips on sightseeing, Bob--who works using a A+ work ethic, and Daniel --who demonstrated strong capabilities. We highly recommend this hotel for a great value, cleanliness, friendliness and putting customers first!~CeeJay H
location can't be beat! walking distance to many many many shops, restaurants, exercise & yoga classes, also easy flat walk to Fort Mason (great farmers market sunday mornings) Marina Green, Crissy Field, The Presidio, Aquatic Park...and they offer free onsite parking in San Francisco! rooms are surprising clean and spacious. This and its sister hotels on Lombard Street have got to be some of the best values in the city
Super close to the Golden Gate Bridge and Palace of Fine Arts. Room was clean, spacious. Parking was included which was very convenient and a big bonus in the city like San Francisco. We had everything we needed in the room. It was very quiet as the windows were off the Lombard Street.
Marina District, San Francisco
It was a great location for us...Mel's Diner practically across the street for breakfast, for example. Area felt very safe - we walked to Ghirardelli square, fisherman's wharf, up to chinatown and then climbed the famous part of Lombard Street. We had no issues whatsoever.
The location was perfect. Walking distance to Fisherman's Wharf, Pier 39, Cable Car Turnaround, Lombard Street, and "Little Italy". The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and quiet. The free parking was a huge bonus!
Marina District, San Francisco
Location is probably the best in town, very centric, near the golden gate bridge and park, near a very nice coast with a little beach and Lombard street. Facilities are great, very clean and seemingly new.
Marina District, San Francisco
The location of the Motel is great. You can walk right to Lombard street or otherwise go to the marina or enjoy Chestnut street. We liked it very much. And parking was free, which is very nice is SF.
