We opted for the Safari Park this trip -- more spread out and fewer folks... delightfully close to the animals. Hours of fun and so many steps. The ticket now includes the train/tram around the Africa exhibits. A great day

Zoo was awesome but it is so large.
Zoo was awesome but it is so large. We gad a hard time getting to see everything due to it’s size and all the other walking we had been doing on our trip. We left before we were really ready or saw everything.

Best zoo in the world. Hard to see in one day. If there is any possibility that you will be returning within the year, highly recommend the package deal. It is expensive, but like I said you will want to spend more than a day here to see everything there is to see!

San Diego zoo was great. Friendly staff, always helpful,never afraid to show you things or ever walk you to where you needed to be. The grounds themselves were very clean and the animals all looked very comfortable in her habitats.

San Diego Zoo is one of the best zoo's we have ever been to! It is HUGE. You surely cannot complete the entire park in a day - and if you can I commend you! We sadly were only able to complete half of the park in the day that we had at the zoo, but we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I would definitely recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes and bringing a camera along to take pictures of some of the most amazing animals in the world!

The breakfast choices were good (considering I'm not a big breakfast person). The room was quite comfortable and clean, we were in room #134 - right next to the pool - and, surprisingly enough, it was quite quiet in the room even when people were using the pool. We visited the San Diego Zoo and the USS Midway; this hotel is very well located for ease of travel to these locations. The hotel staff are nothing less than excellent.

We had a very nice stay, the room was clean and was well equipped, appreciated having an iron. Staff was helpful and nice, cleaning lady respected “do not disturb” sign. It is about 20 minutes drive from San Diego Zoo and La Jolla, there is a mall nearby with nice food court. We felt safe to leave a car at the parking lot at night. It was convenient to have a little bar downstairs.

The location was PERFECT! We will 100% be back. We could walk to all the coves and beaches, a ton of amazing restaurants, breakfast and coffee spots, cute shops... It was perfect. We absolutely adore la Jolla and the village. Also 30 minute drive to the San Diego zoo, without having to stay in the busy heart of the city. All of the staff were incredibly nice and accommodating.

The grounds were beautiful! It was reminiscent of a stay in Hawaii. I especially loved the 2 parrots, the Koi and the family of ducks. Very relaxing for a 3-day get-away! The beds are super comfortable. The entire family fell asleep quick and stayed asleep. They had a crib for us for our little one. This hotel was less than 15 minutes away from Pechange arena stadium and San Diego Zoo. There was a Keurig in the room for fresh coffee in the AM. BUNZ restaurant had decent breakfast.

Animals are very well taken care of but definitely go to the San Diego Zoo Safari Park if you only have time for one zoo rather than the more famous San Diego Zoo. Much better to see animals in settings closer to their natural habitat rather than regular enclosures. Can get expensive if you opt for the extras but we utilised the african safari bus thats part of the ticket price and got a special on the balloon ride. If you love animals and zoos then you will conside tired legs from wandering around this vast place a small price to pay. The Cheetah run demo is worth it for the small glimpse you get to see one in full flight, just hang around after everyone leaves and watch over the fence as the keepers give info about the cheetahs and photo ops to those that paid $100ea extra. Free unless you want the photo.
