Don’t take a back pack size camera bag as it won’t fit in the lockers. The guide suggested we unpacked the camera lenses etc and put them in the locker and leave the bag outside. Too expensive to do this! So only one of us went up the pedestal but that was ok as it was nice to sit and look over to Manhattan for a while. We went in mid March so no crowds.
It is a lot more convenient and affordable to board the ferry from State Liberty Island on the New Jersey side. Parking is only $7.00 and you will get to see the old train station. For the photographer in you, the views from that side are just outstanding and you don't get the image fatigue you typically experience from the New York side.
Book the crown tour as far in advance as possible, it’s very reasonably priced and a great experience. Only so many people are allowed in per day so once you are there it is very leisurely. I’d also go from liberty state park rather than battery park as the queues at battery are massive
Got on the ferry first trip in the morning is the way to go. No waiting no lines and from New Jersey not battery park the best! When we came back there were 100's in line and HOT 80's+. Did have to walk a mile through Katrina damaged buildings through the state park to get to the launch site. Stayed in Jersey City and took rapid transit to New York City everyday. Saved 100"s by not staying in the NYC and parking was free! Hotel rooms were like closets with every inch planned out for space saving but were clean updated and nice.
Well worth the visit - join the ferry from Jersey City for smaller queues. Avoid taking backpacks if possible as they aren't allowed to be taken into the Pedestal/Crown (although you can rent a locker).
One of the best places to visit in New Jersey....I LOVE IT!!! I want to come back soon to re-visit because I couldn't see the crown is booked until next year...but I took sooooo many pictures of the Statue of Liberty and bought many...many souveniers to keep my memories alive....Can't wait to go back!!!
It was close to the Statue of Liberty and our check in clerk was pleasant. One of the maids walked us to a park we wanted to see since it was on her way home. The Ringside bar was pretty scary looking, but had excellent food and a great waitress.
Love our view of NYC + Statue of liberty! The boardwalk is amazing! City is so clean! 8 at an amazing restaurant looking across at New York City! Coming back in November! 😁
The handsome young gentleman working the front desk was more than accommodating and patient with helping me buy ferry tickets to see the statue of liberty. He was awesome!
The location was great! Great view of the New York city skyline and statue of Liberty. With easy access to the city from path train and ferries
Wonderful staff. Great location if you are planning to go to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island.
