There are lots of choices here for local goods ang souvenirs for low prices. However, there are some vendors that are quite harassing and seem to swear at you in their language if you don’t buy at their store after asking how much something costs.
If you are not good at haggling, buy from the fixed price stores-these are fairly priced. Don’t make a mistake of buying something without asking around first, or better yet check fixed price—outer area, then move to the middle area and haggle based on what you are willing to pay.
Everything you want is sold here. Just make sure you don't take the "fake" taxi. Take the green ones and ignore the guys parked around the market. We always hailed our own and never had a problem.
Vendors will haggle wit you normally a full price of what they’re asking is actually half of the cost . I’d say the prices here are over rated, compare to the local markets . so don’t be fooled by their sky rocketing price .
Atay away from this rip-off market if you can. People here are dubious and devious. Theird time i have been here and every time i left feeling cheated and manipulated. Not a good feeling to bring with you when travelling. The people will throw you a price that is 5X the actual price of what you are purchasing. No matter how you bargain they will claim that they already giving you their base price. Lol. Watch put for an old lady at a food stall. She gets you in and asked you to pick the food you want off of the pictures, but there were no prices on them. At the end she will hit you with a fee as high as some of the restaurant you may have gone to. If you don't know the prices up front, then you are forced to pay whatever the cost was. Trust me.. I felt duped and infuriated for their extortions. STAY AWAY FROM BEN THANH MARKET!!!!!!
The sellers are arrogant and will fight with cystomers. Its scary. Dont go there, there are plenty of shopping and cheaper too and in more pleasant environment. Its hot abd stuffy you feel like going out after 10 minutes.

Looks like a brand new property with lots of attractions nearby. Famous Ben Thanh market, fashion street, food street are easy accessible from the property. Cleanliness of the room is an added advantage. Staffs were great and helpful. The tour arrangements were awesome and i loved my stay here as it didn't bite my hands on budget. Highly recommended hostel whom is looking for new friends to share the language and culture.

Avanti is located right behind Ben Thanh Market and is within walking distance from everything. At night you can enjoy the night market right across the street. The hotel itself is clean and modern. Beds are comfortable and the restaurant starts serving breakfast at 6:30 am, which I thought was great. Overall a great place, and yes I would stay here again.

I like the location of the hotel as it is within walking distance from the famous Bến Thành Market and other city sights. Check in and check out was a breeze. Slippers, towels and daily supply of bottled water were provided. You can have a restful sleep at night, thanks to the quiet neighborhood. The staff were great too!

Hotel is quiet, nicely located in District around 10-15 mins walk to Ben Thanh Market; Bui Vien Walking street (famous tourist landmarks).
If you decide to go to the Ben Thanh market, be prepared to have you bargaining hat on. Everyone is friendly but there's a lot of grabbing and there is no air conditioning so it can be a bit overwhelming. Be comfortable with the currency conversion too so you can definitely grab some real bargains on souvenirs to take home; especially things like coffee and decorative lanterns and furniture. Opposite the Ben Thanh market and opposite the HCMC Fine Arts Museum is a brilliant street to buy antiques.
Great choice at Ben Thanh market and higher end arts and crafts stores.
Eat where the locals eat. Get out of District 1. If you want to stay within District 1, check out restaurants behind Ben Thanh Market that display their menu with prices in front of their restaurants.
