As we were early in the season, we had the whole resort for ourselves (the staff left during the day and the night, which felt a bit strange during the first night as we wondered whether we were safe).

With garden views, Mundo Milo Eco Lodge is located in Playa Junquillal and has a restaurant, a shared lounge, bar, garden, year-round outdoor pool and terrace. The lodge features both WiFi and private parking free of charge. What an incredible, laid back and relaxing place to spend your days on this side of Costa Rica. Lieke and Michael have managed to create a jungle-like oasis where I felt completely immersed in the natural environment on Guanacaste. Hearing the birds, monkeys and the ocean whilst lounging by the pool with a great restaurant and bar to the side made for the most relaxing getaway. The breakfast is superb and the staff is extremely friendly and diligent. Lieke and Michael were also extremely helpful in answering any questions and stopping by for a casual chat (given that solo travel can get lonely!). The atmosphere at Mundo Milo is so laid back that I didn’t once feel out of place sitting on my own, having a drink or reading my book!

There is a fully equipped private bathroom with shower and free toiletries. Peaceful location, lovely owners and delicious food. The cabins were serene and comfortable. Loved the hammocks. The trail walks were beautiful. We loved seeing the spider monkeys every day and the resident sloth comfortably tucked away (high in a tree). We would visit again in a second. One of my favourite travel experiences. Gorgeous beaches were a short drive away.
