You are located right in the jungle! You are on the monkey highway’! So many animals to see right from your deck, three kinks of monkeys, scarlet macaws, toucans, trogons, hummingbirds and more.
Great beds; screens on the windows as well as fans and good AC. This allows you to have the room open to a nice breeze or the comfort of the AC. Wonderful big shower with plenty of hot water. Large refrigerator with room for ice. Bird tour with Louise was wonderful, they have lots of other tours available and they will pick you up right at Maze Lodge.
The lodge is right next to a Zip Line tour, we didn’t try it, but I’m sure you can get a great deal.

Location in the trees of the Costa Rican jungle, perfectly private, outdoor cold (but not too cold) shower under trees. Wildlife in abundance, from howler and spider monkeys in the trees above the cabin; to agoutis, leaf-cutter ants, various lizards and amphibians, crabs below it, plus stunning butterflies, toucans and scarlet macaws - one wonder after another.
Christian is a kind, helpful, professional bilingual host, extremely knowledgeable about the flora and fauna, first-class tour guide and able to fix anything.
Meals all prepared from fresh ingredients. My favorites were the breakfast fruits and dinners with avocados and freshly-caught fish.
All staff was friendly and accommodating.
It was the most peaceful, rejuvenating week I've ever had.
San Pedrillo
With garden views, Kinkajoungalows - Amaya Family, Drake Bay, Osa Peninsula is set in San Pedrillo and has a restaurant, a tour desk, bar, garden and terrace. Both WiFi and private parking are accessible at the lodge free of charge. Gorgeous location where the jungle meets the ocean. Samuel, his family and staff did an amazing job of making us comfortable in such a remote place. Our cabin was large and airy, equipped with fans to keep us cool. The bed was comfortable and the kitchenette seemed well-equipped, although we didn’t test it with any actual cooking. Meals were simple, fresh, and healthy, and our bartender Wendy made deliciously creamy maracuya (passion fruit) daiquiris. We saw toucans and scarlet macaws onsite, and on nearby forest paths we saw a sloth, an anteater, and groups of Capuchin monkeys.
Cabo Matapalo
Set in Cabo Matapalo, Four Monkeys Eco Lodge - Jungle & Beach offers free WiFi, and guests can enjoy a garden, a private beach area and a terrace.

This is a stunning place that exceeded all our expectations. The cabin where we lived was very clean and comfortable. Moreover, it is not hot, but protects you against possible uninvited guests. The territory of the lodge comes directly to the beach, which is very convenient. Everywhere is beautiful and clean, and there are real feelings of jungle around. For four days, four types of different monkeys came to us: spider monkeys, white faced capuchin monkeys, squirrel monkeys and loud howler monkeys (I got now why the lodge is named "Four monkeys" 😉). We also saw a lot of birds: pelicans hunt near the shore, loud green parrots, beautiful macaws, amazing toucans, and many more that we did not know, flu to the lodge. I also want to mention the beautiful sunrises, for which we woke up at 5:50 a.m. and watched right from the beach. Everything was unforgettable, it is a really paradise place! Finally, We would like to say great thanks to Selvina, her husband Dario, the lodge hosts, and their niece Eliya for creating truly Pura Vida vibes and whose hospitality and assistance are simply invaluable!

The lodge offers a terrace. El Remanso Rainforest Lodge offers a business centre, free WiFi access and free private parking.
El Remanso Rainforest Lodge has set the bar so high that I fear no other hotel will ever compare. From the moment we arrived until the day we left, every aspect of our stay exceeded expectations.
The entire staff, Rinaldo, Dari, and Rosa, were all truly exceptional. They were warm, welcoming, and attentive to every detail. Our tour guides, Eliezer, Roy, Tony, and Ronald, were equally impressive: knowledgeable, passionate, and eager to share their love for the rainforest and for the Osa Peninsula.
The lodge itself is spectacular, nestled between lush forest and a pristine beach—there’s hardly any reason to leave. We stayed in a bungalow with breathtaking views of both the sea and the forest. Each morning and evening, we watched monkeys and birds right from our window.
The included food was a highlight, with every meal delicious and the servers, Enrique, Brian, Joselito, and Stefani, going above and beyond to accommodate any dietary restrictions. The daily activities, the beautiful pool, and the outstanding service all contribute to making this lodge worthwhile, even given its high price.
It was remarkable how the entire staff always seemed to know which tours and activities we had planned, making us feel like their most important guests at all times.
Take their advice seriously about needing a 4WD vehicle to access the lodge. You’ll want high clearance on your car to navigate the road easily and avoid any damage.
Leaving El Remanso truly felt like saying goodbye to family, and we were genuinely sad to go. This place has ruined all my future hotel experiences, but in the best way possible. We will definitely be back.

The place is beautifully cared for, with a variety of lodging options each set apart from the others. The lidge is a few steps away from the far end of a peaceful and calm beach so generally one is alone there. Also in walking distance of a nice beachfront restaurant/bar. The owner Tomas is very friendly and helpful, as is his assistant Julia. They let me bring my dog! I actually spent 3 nights there, not 1. I will recommend it to friends

We loved the warm welcome from all the friendly furry friends- adorable dogs and the sweetest kitten Aurora. The staff was also very kind and accommodating. The sounds of the jungle during the night was amazing. The areas were as clean as can be, don’t forget you are in the jungle, it’s an open concept.

We came to PuertoJimenez to go Birdwatching, which we did with Royer, an excellent Birder. Also, I would recommend the Night Walk, with Emmanuelle in the Osa Interactive Garden. The Dinners & Breakfasts were excellent at the Iguana Lodge Beach Resort. The staff were very friendly, also the owner Lauren! Playing in the surf, with their Boogie Boards was challenging but fun!
I have mixed feelings about this lodge, the estate is stunning with beautiful walking trails and canopy towers for watching wildlife. Staying in open bungalows definitely has its charms, but also comes with some disadvantages.
The lodges are very pretty and fully equipped of everything you need. The forest is amazing and it is a cool experience to sleep in it. The your owner is very nice, always kind and friendly like his family. You can have breakfast and dinner cooked by them and the food is simple but very good. The road to get there is doable with 4x4 wheels car.
Location of Albergue La Laguna is great for nature and bird lovers. Lodge is quite simple but beds were comfy, clean and there were no insects in our rooms. Lodge is surrounded by nature - lagoon, forest, meadows. There are only 4 rooms and there is huge space with hammocks, tables, armchairs to relax. Staff was very friendly and they offered tasty breakfast at reasonable price. It was one of 2-3 greatest accomodation during our month stay in Costa Rica. Remote and 4x4 car access only!
Loved the lodges - private and in the jungle! Food was amazing
The location is fabulous, you're literally in the forest with a view of the sea. You can't help but admire the effort that must have gone into building in such a remote location, a 2-hour drive from the nearest town. The owner of the Lodge, who initiated this extraordinary project, comes to discuss the project every evening. Beautiful pool Excellent service Excellent restaurant, attentive to every need
