This was our very first visit to Kenya, and choosing Drunken Elephant Mara turned out to be the best decision we made!
Right from the start, their coordination and hospitality were exceptional. As I was traveling with my family, including our 5-year-old daughter, I had many questions around logistics, bookings, and safety. Every query was answered promptly and patiently, which gave me great confidence and peace of mind.
A big thank you to the amazing staff – especially Henry, our courteous and reliable chauffeur, and William, our knowledgeable safari guide and driver, who made our wildlife experience unforgettable.
The food was absolutely delicious – every meal was a treat! The location is perfect – just 5 minutes away from the Sekenani Gate – and the entire property felt completely secure and family-friendly.
Highly recommended for anyone looking for a smooth, warm, and memorable safari experience in the heart of the Masai Mara. We can’t wait to return!
Sekenani
Accommodation ranges with a variety of tents. There is a main restaurant, bar and many bush dining options. The free form swimming pool has its own pool bar and the property has their own fleet of safari vehicles and guides. We stayed in a club tent, and we loved that it was set away from the main accommodation, so it was a bit more quiet and secluded. Our room was beautiful with large bathroom facilities and allowed plenty of space to relax. We also had access to the Olchani Lounge, which overlooked the lake. The food was exceptional, and the staff were terrific. Everyone was attentive, and having stayed for 4 nights, the lounge staff knew my partner would be looking to enjoy a beer post afternoon safari each day. To celebrate a special occasion, my partner was also surprised with a cake on our final night, which was lovely. We would highly recommend Sarova and would not hesitate to stay there again.

Location, bordering the Masai Mara NP. Being outside actually provides more flexibility. We arrived in the late afternoon, if we had chosen accommodation inside the National Park we would have paid US$200/pp (US$50/child under 18yo) simply to access our accommodation. Regardless of staying inside or outside the park - visitors pay park fees on a daily basis.
We were very fortunate and grateful to receive a complimentary upgrade to a glass cabin room. Stepping inside, the room was comparable to a 4.5 star hotel room in the west. The bed and the bedding was super comfortable; bathroom was faultless

Really nice and helpful staff. John and Jacob made our safari unforgettable. They were very knowledgeable about the area and the wildlife. In addition Isaac cooked us wonderful meals. Per our request vegan and it was very tasteful and healthy! kanunka told us everything we liked to know about the Maasai people. Finally John arranged a pass through the park to bring us to our next destination with his landcruiser.
I had a great stay at the camp. At the time, I was the only tourist staying there and the staff were very solicitous, friendly and helpful. Food was really good and, of course, the safari - organised at the spot by the camp, was a wonderful experience. I would definitely recommend.
I liked that the lodge was inside the park. The staff was very personable and helpful. Special shout out to the manager Mike, our game drive guide Vivianne, our houseman Isaiah and the head chef.
Staff were incredibly friendly, especially the girls in the restaurant. And the two cooks too. Great food and plenty of it as well. Easy to take a breakfast or a lunch with you if wanna leave for an early or a whole day safari. We made reservations for a room, but got offered a tent, which we gladly took as the room looked not as comfy as the tent (warm, small windows without insectscreens). Hippos, crocs and kingfishers in river next to lodge. Even an elephant dropped by. Definetely worth a stay.
The camp is really exceptional, we have exprrience from Namibia, Uganda, Botswana and Serengety as well, the quality of all sevices are as in 5 stars lodges in Botswana but for 2,5 times less expences. Especially chefs and guides do the job with love.
We stayed at Mara Intrepids for a couple of nights before heading on to another lodge. Samson, our safari guide was EXCEPTIONAL. He made the start of our trip wonderful! Also, the service provided by Kenneth and team at meal times was exemplary.
