The huts at the river are very cute, with terraces, bathrooms, comfortable beds from which you have a direct view to the river day and night. Every day the hosts were cleaning. Some units include a balcony and/or a patio. Staying at the Hacienda Herrera Tambopata was the shining star of our visit to Peru. Everything about it was a delight. The staff, food, surrounding landscape, tour offerings, the room...we loved every minute of our stay.

The rooms and bungalows provide rustic comfort, with dark wood floors and furniture. Each comes with a private bathroom with free toiletries, and forest or oxbow lake views. There is also a fan. This lodge exceeded our expectations. Amazing meals. Beautiful wild setting. Clean, spacious, comfortable rooms. Excellent guided tours (our guide Uriel was magnificent and fabulous at spotting wildlife.) The boat trips along the rivers were surreal, especially the morning breakfast boat out to see the wild parrots on the clay licks. The pickup and luggage storage services were added bonuses. This definitely requires a three night stay (which we did) 4 nights would have been out of this world.
