Boasting natural hot spring baths, Hohoemino Kuyufu Tsuruya is located a 15-minute walk from JR Tendo Station, 50 km from Sendai. Free WiFi is available throughout the property, and free private parking is available on site. Beautiful property. The room was spacious! Even for Western standards. The private onsen was very nice. We did not try the public onsen. The staff were courteous and helpful. Although the staff had limited English proficiency, they all used a translation app to help with communication which was incredibly helpful.

All rooms come with a private hot-spring bath and free Wi-Fi is available at the lobby area. A free shuttle is available from JR Kaminoyama Onsen Train Station, which is a 5-minute drive away and must be reserved at time of booking. The staff were brilliant and very friendly despite a language barrier with some, shuttling me to and from the station and helping me book a dinner reservation separate from my room booking. The room was as described but that's not a negative, it was a great experience with the footbath and private onsen. Recommend the dinner highly for a local kaiseki offering in a private room.

We admired the thought that went into presenting food in dishes that are compatible with the “mood” of the food. Only 5 minutes walk to the lift. Staff were professional, rooms were comfortable and clean. We really enjoyed our stay.

Suitable for anyone who traveling by car (rental) as the hotel located amongst valley (nearby Mt.Zao) the scenery was stunning and weather was perfect. But the most significant part that we chose this hotel to stayed was the dinner course here! (the breakfast was delicious and various as well). It was a wonderful experience for anyone who has passion for eating great and delicious foods. We were happy for every second we stayed here. Room, services and all staffs were amazing especially the who checking us in, she was willing to help us for what we need in every way 👍🏻.
EXCEPT the one who checking us out 👎🏻 he gave us a bad attitude and felt like he wouldn’t tried a single bit and didn’t care to explain things we needed to know (about the additional paying for city tax which everyone needed to pay when checking-out. WE, foreigners, who never knew about this and only one thing he needed to do was EXPLAIN, a nice explanation). However, we will still definitely choose to stay here if we visit Zao again.

It was an outstanding experience from start to finish. The staff were incredibly nice and helpful, always going above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable and enjoyable. Dinner was a truly cool experience, featuring exquisite Japanese cuisine that was both authentic and delicious. The onsen was also exceptional, providing a serene and relaxing atmosphere. The overall vibe of the hotel was inviting and warm, making it a perfect retreat. Highly recommended!
Location was superb as near to train station, lots of restaurant nearby
Very impressive newly renovated rooms with high quality fittings, and attention to details. Staff very polite and professional. Superb dinner and breakfast. Outstanding onsen close to resort area. Highly recommended!
Talk about Ski in Ski out!! I didn't actually realise when I booked, that this is completely on mountain accommodation. Absolutely outstanding. Room was clean and comfortable, staff were absolutely great. Very helpful and accommodating. Breakfast in the mornings had a great selection to fuel up for the slopes and I thought other meals were tasty and great value for money. Catch the Ropeway and get picked up in a snowmobile.. how many places can you stay that do that!!
This beautiful hotel is in a great location. It only took us a 10-minute walk from the JR Station and a 5-minute walk from the ropeway station. The dinner was superb, with a variety of delicate Japanese dishes and grill beef. The famous beef was so tender and delicious. We were so full and the staff offered us take-away dessert that we could enjoy later in our room. Free shuttle bus service from Yamagata JR Station to the hotel could be reserved in advance. Great service!
Facilities and Location superb
The room was clean and beautiful, with great mountain views. The onsen was luxurious and nourishing, and staff were friendly and not intrusive. Great buffet breakfast, beautiful lobby... we loved it and intend to return. It made our trip!
- Exceptional service. Warm and friendly staff, goes out of their way to help and make the stay as comfortable as possible - Rooms was spacious and comfortable - Outdoor bath provides a private and comfortable relaxing space - Public bath was great, especially for first time user - Shuttle service, to and from the station
One of the luxury accommodations in the town. Hotel is annexed to the city's train station, making it a perfect location for a home base if you will be touring the prefecture. Bars and izakaya restaurants across the street from the hotel. Breakfast is expensive but elaborate. Friendly english speaking and non english speaking staff. Bed leans on the hard side, which is the standard across japan.
Luxurious for what you pay, full of amenities, even an iron which is rare. Perfect location as its just in the same train station, access from station. Very clean and comfortable.
