Located in Nikko, 18 km from Tobu Nikko Station, K's House Nikko - Kinugawa Onsen Hostel provides accommodation with a shared lounge, free private parking and a terrace. The property was a great place for travelers to rest, with comfortable spaces in the cafeteria room and balcony porch. The view of the whiting rapid river was breathtaking! We also loved the peaceful outside onsen.

1.3 km from Tobu Nikko Station in Nikko, Rakuten STAY VILLA Nikko features accommodation with access to a sauna and hot spring bath. It had everything we needed for a comfortable stay: clean and spacious unit, a hot spring bath and a complete set of kitchen utensils and appliances.

Located in Nikko, 800 metres from Nikko Toshogu Shrine, Nikko Nishimachi Club provides accommodation with a terrace, free private parking and a restaurant. The staff was extremely friendly! The hotel itself was very clean and in a great location.

Located in Nikko, 2.8 km from Tobu Nikko Station, Gableview Forest Inn ゲーブルビュー features accommodation with a hot spring bath, a public bath and an open-air bath. The hosts are very friendly, the house is in the countryside with a hot bath inside and outside the house. The meals (dinner and breakfast) are very good.

The Ritz-Carlton, Nikko features restaurants, fitness centre, a lobby lounge bar and shared lounge in Nikko situated by Lake Chuzenji and overlooking Mount Nantai. We were expecting a fine hotel experience for our trip to Nikko but experienced so much more at the Ritz Carlton. Elevated, serene, beautiful facilities and accommodations along with one superlative food experience, made for one of our favorite stays anywhere, ever. Both of our rooms were wonderful, but the suite was just wonderful. All of the food was very good during our stay, but our omakase experience - our favorite sushi ever and one of our favorite meals ever. (For what it's worth, I have never used 'ever' so often in a review) Consistently friendly, helpful staff as well. This is a unique and special place and I fully expect that we'll retreat here again on future trips to Tokyo.

Itamuro Onsen Daikokuya offers a sauna and free private parking, and is within 42 km of Shirakawa Station and 43 km of Komine Castle. I was originally interested in this hotel because I read that the Onsen had a Museum full of Kishio Suga's work. I had been following this amazing Japanese artist for a number of years... so that fact was a deciding factor for me. But, the Onsen, the staff, the care that we felt they put into everything they did, the atmosphere of the place, the gardens also designed by Kishio Suga, the delightful guests we had the pleasure of meeting, our room and the food we were served - and let's not forget the tour of the museum! - made me love this place. Itamuro Onsen Daikokuya has history. Someone told us that the Onsen was 500 years old. Most of the Japanese guests we met there went to purely relax. The kind and capable staff take amazing care of all the guests: A Japanese friend in Tokyo told me I should celebrate the Winter Solstice while I was in Nasushiobara. She explained that on that one day, it had always been traditionally celebrated by putting YUZU fruit in Japanese baths and eating something made of pumpkin. I asked the hotel about all this. I really don't think it was part of their plan... but, they did it all: the YUZU in the baths and the specially prepared Pumpkin desserts. It was all to please us, their guests, and make sure our stay was perfect. I was so grateful and felt so pampered and happy. I enjoyed that fruit in the Japanese bath more than you can imagine. So, If you want to relax in a beautiful Onsen with history, go see great art at the. Suga museum, to have a beautiful experience,and be pampered in a very Japanese sort of way...you must come to Itamuro Onsen Daikokuya.

Located in Nasu, 27 km from Shirakawa Station, Jizaiso provides accommodation with a sauna, a hot spring bath and a steam room. Comfortable stay, great food and amazing service! The staff were all lovely! They had a service to bring us to the bus station and it helped us out a lot.

Established in 1666, Honke Bankyu is housed in a registered historical building. The Japanese rooms feature traditional decor, futon bedding and a flat-screen TV. Beautiful scenery, historic property, and very attentive staff. Traveling with children to ryokans is not easy, but they did a phenomenal job ensuring we weren’t too much of a bother to the other guests.

About a 20-minute walk from the Nikko shrines, Annex Turtle Hotori-An is situated next to the Daiya river and green forests. It features hot spring baths with river views. The owner greeted us with such helpful information. Onsen is exceptional - I was nervous about getting access but it was never a problem. Breakfast is great and very filling! Location is wonderful - right next to the Ganman-ga-fuchi abyss. Very peaceful, short walk to restaurants.
