Comfortable, a bit cold. The directions were not clear that you park on one road and have to hook right down that path between church and apartment building. Also, said keys were hidden but the couple upstairs were letting me in….i stood outside for a while. They were very nice and showed me all around the apartment. We used phone apps to translate, quite fun really!

Le Moulin d'Arcas is a sanctuary of calm. The old water mill is located next to a small river and surrounded by the owners vegetable beds and fruit trees. The couple, Luc and Anne Marie, were very welcoming and ensured that we lacked nothing. The room had old stone walls and a rustic charm. The bed was very comfortable and the shower great. In the evening we had lovely dinner outside with all the other guests while the sun was setting below the high mountains surrounding the valley. The next morning everyone had a nice breakfast with everything you might want. A great bonus is having the 'voie verte', i.e. the 80km disused railway line that is now a cycle/hiking path, within a 5-10 minutes walk. I also found a two hour round-trip walk on a beautiful forest path up the mountain to a peak. Catching the first golden rays of sunshine over the mountains at 6:30 in the morning was magical.

Breakfast is good. The hotel's location is outstanding. It is near the Tapestry Museum, the Cathedral and the scenic river. Many good restaurants are very near. The hotel is very romantic. We had the only room that opens onto the garden. We felt like it was our private enclave. It also had a nice living room. The bathroom had the large traditional tub. Lots of hot water - one of many mandatory requirements.
