On Friday evening we had spontaneous decision to go for 1 night break to Northern Ireland to see The Giants Causeway and some historical sites as we drove along. Our holiday budget for the year was nearly used, we basically were only looking for the place to sleep for the night. The Gortin Glen price was an exceptional value. The rest of the prices for places near the Giants Causeway were quite inflated as for the time of the year and quality of accommodation with the prices range from 152 euro (without breakfast) to 280 euro for guest houses and old 3-star hotels. When we arrived, we were nicely surprised. Our room was very nice with all new furniture, expensive beds, and a big TV. In fact, the furniture and interiors were probably better then in some 4-star hotels we stayed in this summer. The air inside the room was fresh as well, for me being allergic it is very important. Probably due to lockdown most of the places we stayed before this summer (ranging from B&B to 4-star hotels) smelled a bit of dust or cleaning chemicals or both. The Guest House is located on the hill with great views of the countryside. The breakfast was excellent and plenty. Ulster fry was very tasty and big enough to feed 105 kg man like me. The hosts Dafne and Sam are very nice and accommodating people. The location is an extra 10-15 min drive to the Giants Causeway then the other places advertised but again given the price, hospitality and the quality of the accommodation and breakfast it was well worth it. Overall, instead of an average place we thought we would stay for a quick sleep we really enjoyed the place and wished we could stay for another day.
