The view from the cottage was beautiful, and it was a perfect base for walking, swimming in the lake and exploring Coniston. Loved the open fire, the comfy sofa and how cosy it felt. The cottage was clean and well kitted out with everything we needed.

we took our dog with us. She is sweet but a bit scary looking, so she's not very used to the sympathy of strangers. The attention that the staff provided her meant a lot to us. The location is ideal, never too far from several well known trails. There's a big lawn by the lake that makes for a very pleasant walk in the morning. The food at the pub and the selection of ales is really good. Would certainly go back.

We loved the little touches that made the room feel homely. The host is lovely and the location is perfect for exploring Coniston. The Ruskin/Family suite had a mini kitchen and was plenty big enough. Free onsite parking is a bonus too, even if you have to play ‘car jenga’ if another guest wants to leave and you’re blocking them in - the host is great at co-ordinating this without you feeling pressured though.
